Today's Announcement and our follow up

Yes, I would be willing to contribute a significant amount of money to this because no matter what happens, I stand to loose a fair amount anyway. Might as well go for broke, so to speak... And forget a buyback, we will never get fair value because it’s not only the firearms, there are the scopes, bases, rings, ammo, etc. And how do you quantify loss of enjoyment? To me, that’s worth a lot!!

On the same boat here. There should be a collective effort put together by businesses, supported by gun owners.

I sure hope existing gun organizations get their poop together, leave history behind and act as a united body.

i would also contribute, we need to make a unified decision here

Looks like the Alberta gov.is at least working on the issue. They have issued a statement at alberta.ca Sorry I cant post the link.

“The Government of Alberta is concerned about all crime, including the illegal use of firearms. Today’s order by Ottawa does little to target criminals. Instead, Ottawa is singling out law-abiding Canadians who purchased their property legally, have owned these items safely for years, and who have committed no crimes,” stated Alberta Premier Jason Kenney.
“We know that the overwhelming majority of firearms used criminally in Canada are smuggled in illegally from the United States. Instead of addressing this, Ottawa will instead spend vast sums of money to criminalize law-abiding Canadians. That money would be far better used to pursue the smugglers and drug gangs that plague our society,” added Kenney.
“We also know that violent criminals who use guns are often released with surprisingly soft sentences. Rather than focus on law-abiding Canadians, we’d call on Parliament to bring back tough, mandatory sentences for the criminals who flagrantly endanger Canadians with their use of illegal guns,” implored Alberta Justice Minister Doug Schweitzer.
In November 2019, the Alberta legislature unanimously passed Government Motion 41, which stated:
“Be it resolved that the Legislative Assembly recognize and support the ability of Albertans to lawfully and in a responsible manner own and possess firearms and to engage in permitted activities involving the use of firearms, including but not limited to hunting and sport shooting.”
“The Government of Alberta will scrutinize today’s move by Ottawa and explore potential responses through this lens,” said Schweitzer.
“In response to today’s announcement from Ottawa, our government is actively considering appointing Alberta’s own chief firearms officer (CFO) to replace the CFO appointed by Ottawa,” concluded Kenney.

Did anyone tape the broadcast this am?
I am trying to get an exact quote that Freeland made... it was something like "putting feminist ideas into practice"...

WTH does that even mean in the context of banning Assault type firearms?

Yeah, she said "saying no to assault style weapons is putting feminist ideas into practice".

But don't forget she also said, "These guns make it easier to commit mass murder and the culture around their fetishization [sic] makes our country inherently more dangerous for the people most vulnerable and that is women and girls."

She's signalling to her extremist man hating feminists about her utopia of "No evil masculine activities". These feminists like their men like JT, CUCKS.

Here's a few quotes of what she said, a few doozies in there. I presently feel quite ill, not sure which virus is to blame.

Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland stressed that these weapons are not for hunting but have been manufactured “to kill people and to look like they can kill people.”

“These guns make it easier to commit mass murder,” Freeland said. “The culture around their fetishization makes our country inherently more dangerous for the people most vulnerable, and that is women and girls.”

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed specific concerns about gender-based violence, adding that by moving forward with this new regulation, “we are putting feminist ideas into practice.”

I agree. We have two years, I think the better route would be to get out and campaign against the liberals in the coming election. Even better make sure that we have somebody in the Conservative leadership that is electable.

ColionNoir nails it, this country and his government fails.

this country suck so bad now and its a shame to be a canadian for me.

Buyback program is a fn joke, they keep playing with our money in front of our face telling us what to do.

Enjoy your life in canada,be safe in a safer country where law abiding citizens have nothing to say and life goes on.

Dont forget to keep your cell phones close in case you need help, we will send you assistance with guns in case we failed once more to keep illegal guns of the streets or near any teeth maker.

We are here to help you! 10 mins away when you have only 1 more minute to live in this safe country.

Justin Cocteau for next elections!

There's like literally nothing else to do right now. There's got to be a protest forming, yeah? Toronto or Ottawa, please? I'll do either. This is a turning point in human history and it can't go ahead without the loudest response ever. Please someone organize, I do not have the networking skills or relationships in place to get anything off the ground.

But there are 5 of us willing to go wherever, right now, social distancing be damned.

This is my thoughts exactly. Today its all I could think about .I'm not the one to be the leader, however I will take time off work to protest. We have a lot to lose and obviously this is very real. We all know once these are gone, we'll never have these guns again. But if we all stand up and take a stand, at least we could say that we did SOMETHING. People at my work are now baffled however they're your typical hunter who is mad but never cared until now and doesn't know who CCFR is.... With that said there is enough of us who do care.

I'll take time off of work and would happily join in protest. I feel we have nothing to lose and if anything, going against the covid thing is the fault of the government, not ours for picking this timing and undemocratically pulling this move, and it would show that we didn't want it to come to that but they're not winning. Just my thoughts. We all thought we'd see this day I think eventually. I really didn't think it was today..

WOW.....Who voted for the liberals...or didn't go out and vote against them. I pressed my wife to vote PC and she liked the NDP..

Opinions on putting my stripped receiver in say a 200lb block of concrete with the serial numbers visible for pick up by the RCMP... Catch a charge for obstruction? Waiting for a Trudeau excalibur moment.

It is truly a sad and pathetic day in Canada..

Fear and illogical symbolism have been a key political move for the Liberal party and today they have gone against the democratic process to further their agenda..

More details will be released shortly from what we have learned today, when the sun sets today remember it will rise again tomorrow, nothing is forever we will stand to fight another day.

We will be releasing a statement soon.

Just to be clear, the Government's action may amount to confiscation of your newly prohibited firearm without compensation. This will happen (i) because at the end of the amnesty period it will be illegal to possess the firearm, and (ii) if prior to the end of the amnesty period the Government does not institute a buy back program for the firearm, or you elect not to take advantage of a buyback program, if instituted, because the price offered is not reasonable, or you elect not to voluntarily surrender the firearm to the police or have it deactivated in a manner that it is no longer a firearm. Truly a historically draconian and cynicly move by the Government.
