Just yesterday I was out shooting my RPA in 6mm-250. The one gun that I built completely myself, even made the scope rings myself. Now today it's a prohib. What the hell happened? It's a short action single shot.

I think because RPA produced a bigger 50 BMG action somehow some jerk somewhere in the gov got it mixed up.

I realize not many people shoot these anymore but jeez.

I suspect sloppy draftsmanship when the OIC was drawn up. Wanted the RPA .50, ignorant of the fact that most Quadlocks are smaller target rifles. Very doubtful that your rifle is prohibited.

DCRA is aware. Barnard GP is also on the list. Even thought most Barnard TR shooter use the Barnard P actions, I can see a real cluster #### at Canadian Customs when a shooter returns from an International match. Customs Officer punches in RPA Quadlock or Barnard and the bells a whistles will be going off. Now try to explain why you are importing a prohibited rifle.
I would say that including the cadets that shoot RPA rifles, 90-95% of the DCRA competitors are shooting either an RPA or a Barnard.

There is also a Bat Machine on the list.

I saw that too. I remember many years ago (before the internet) receiving a letter that my AR-15 was now restricted and I had to take it to the police station for registration. Some guy in the line-up said this was just the beginning and I thought to myself then what's our country coming to. Well here it is.

Not that the feds are good with applying any nuance to this, but I would hope ( yes I know fat chance ) that it would apply to that rifle chambered in a cartridge that exceeds this 10k joules figure they arrived at. The intent of the pertinent sections preamble makes this clear.

This list has a bunch of errors in it and was likely drafted in a hurry by people with limited firearms knowledge.

I know it leaves us in the hard spot of possible legal proceedings but that’s my take. Since they fall under this goofy 10k joule thing they would be hard pressed to demonstrate that an action with a .473” bolt face, chambered in plain vanilla 308W or my #2 Gun in 6Br is capable of the prohibited muzzle energy.

I know I’m all talk until my gun is seized but that is the argument I would put back on the Crown. As a LEO with a lot to loose on a weapons charge but this is the path I would take and feel it could be argued prior to trial. The inclusion in a section devoted to muzzle energy my RPA’s are neither chambered in an applicable cartridge and are not capable of being so chambered without major modifications. Honestly if I had the bolt face hogged out and a 338 Lapua barrel installed I don’t think that cartridge can even meet the 10k joules. No way a 50 BMG conversion is possible.

I noticed models listed which included “ McMillan M1A and McMillan M3A”. These are not rifles but models of fiberglass stocks. These guys in Ottawa are a bunch of flipping amateurs.

I remember all that stuff as well. Our old friend Allan Rock. At the time they said things like “ you register your car, why not your rifle”. Of course the counter argument that vehicle registration did nothing for careless or impaired driving was lost on the proponents of registration. They had no answers they just wanted what they wanted.

Like you said here it is.

While the list has a lot of errors, that isn't one of them. h ttp://www.mcmillanfirearms.com/mcmillan-introduces-the-m3a-rifle/

Well I’ll be damned, there it is. 2010 mind you but I suppose someone could have bought one back then.....

By the way did anyone else read all the way to the end and see that the OIC included a “Gender Based Analysis”? JT is such a knob.

How did they know to send you a letter if it wasn’t already registered? Did everyone with a license get said letter?
