How did my RPA Quadlock get banned????????

How did they know to send you a letter if it wasn’t already registered? Did everyone with a license get said letter?

Way back in the 90’s after the Polytechnique the first step was the Feds drew up a list of semi autos and passed legislation ( C-17?) requiring owners to register only. That was Kim Campbell I believe. No change in status they simply registered them.

Then a few years later Jean Chrétien and Allan Rock got into power and low and behold what same list was now used to designate the very same, registered rifles as Restricted Class? Of course they knew how many and where they were now.

Fast forward to 2020 and here we are.

Ok, they also seem to have a hardon for boomers, 50 BMG. So they are going out of their way to shut down ELR play for what reason? As my RPA is a quad light, I'm good there. But there are some significant holes in this.

I suspect sloppy draftsmanship when the OIC was drawn up. Wanted the RPA .50, ignorant of the fact that most Quadlocks are smaller target rifles. Very doubtful that your rifle is prohibited.

Sloppy drafting doesn't alter the fact that it is there, unfortunately.

Keeping in mind that the RPA Quadlock (and the Christensen Arms Ranger, etc) are all listed under section 96:

96 Any firearm capable of discharging a projectile with a muzzle energy greater than 10,000 joules — other than one referred to in item 12, 13, 14, 20, 22 or 30 of this Part or one designed exclusively for the purpose of neutralizing explosive devices — including the ... [CV32: the list follows]

The wording of the section does not do a very good job here of specifying the difference between the frames or receivers of the actions that can produce that muzzle energy and those that cannot, but share the same or similar name.

Actually I was able to find that Christensen Arms did make a 50bmg called the Ranger, highlighting another problem with the OIC. Manufacturers regularly recycle product names or have a model name with many different chamberings. Now any model regardles of calibre with that name is prohibited, such as this CA Ranger 22lr.

Upside was that the Conservatives were reduced to 3 seats as partial retribution I'm sure. Two years amnesty gets us within 1 year of the next election (assumptions made). Only way to ensure change now is to make that eastern red party understand that the angst is shared by more than just the west and they just might have to go back to finding a job in the real world quickly (severances and/or pensions assured).

I don't think we are going to have the chance. I think Trudeau will call a snap election this fall (around October 2020) with the intent of getting a majority. Covid has given him sky high approval ratings and there's no effective opposition. He has to go for an early election before the significance of $250 billion in spending and the future taxes that result from it hit the collective conscience.

Then it's all over for us. With a majority we will lose everything.

Wait and see. Hopefully any election will occur after this whole pandemic thing has settled down. After the levels of anxiety decline there needs to be an examination of how the LPC handled this whole affair including sending much needed supplies to China, and taking the recommendations of the WHO without any skepticism.

We will also have a better picture of the financial cost of all the support people required, and MP’s like Pierre Poilievre will draw attention to how much debt and deficits the LPC ran up prior to this unforeseen crisis.

Maybe I’m too much of an optimist but I don’t see them picking up any lost ridings west of Ontario that’s for sure. And maybe a few more rural ridings in Ontario will switch to blue. There’s not much room right now for anything non Covid-19 in peoples minds but this will pass.

The RPA Quadlock goes by another name Rangemaster, which the Libs think is sounds to similar to Bushmaster. Literally there is no other reason. This is everyones fight and every firearms owner needs to realize and stand up for each other hunters, sport shooters, enthusist, everyone because this is not going to end if we we keep on say "Oh it doesn't affect me".

Just yesterday I was out shooting my RPA in 6mm-250. The one gun that I built completely myself, even made the scope rings myself. Now today it's a prohib. What the hell happened? It's a short action single shot.

I think because RPA produced a bigger 50 BMG action somehow some jerk somewhere in the gov got it mixed up.

I realize not many people shoot these anymore but jeez.

Your rifle is NOT banned. An RPA Quadlock rifle in 50 BMG, FRT# 60578-4, is now prohibited because of caliber. An RPA Quadlock in any other caliber, for example 308, FRT# 60578-1, is still non restricted.

Where does it say that in the OIC? It describes the energy limit but then it says "including" and includes the action as being "capable of" - it's still listed, therefore....

Ha! Can ya imagine?! JT back to working the door at the local pub! How many fights do ya think he'd now get into!!??...even worse...he goes back to teaching our kids?!
To be honest...the only job he should be required to do after this one is his shift at moping the floors at the Kinston Pen on a daily basis until he is too old to hold the mop.

Right, if you meet the wrong member of law enforcement you could be in a lot of hot water.
I have a buddy with an AIAX and he's in a similar boat.
Poorly thought out BS
