I've been toying with the idea of competing at the IDPA Italian & European Championships ( http://www.idpa.com/major_match_info.asp?Match_Name=2007 Italian National Championship & http://www.idpa.com/major_match_info.asp?Match_Name=2007 European Championship ) for some time but after meeting the Area Coordinator, Giorgio Acerboni, and a few other Italian shooters at the IDPA Nationals last month in Pennsylvania, I"ve decided to go for it! :dancingbanana:

Plane ticket's been puchased and hotel reservations have been made. Completed the paperwork this morning to bring my pistols into Italy and sent them to Giorgio (via Franco in Michigan).

And my mother called her brother in Italy to tell him I'll be going to visit while I'm there....

I've also convinced (wasn't hard ;) ) Corp. Punishment to join me at the matches...

It promises to be a great time. Giorgio has arranged all sorts of stuff to do including tours of the Tanfoglio and Beretta factories. :)

10 days to go before I leave... :runaway:

That would have been fun..I have a sister in Milano Only 45 mins drive to Brescia.. My passport still hasn't arrived I guess there is always next year. I did however find great deals on flights... 199 Toronto to London then 24 pounds from London to Milan return... I can't believe how cheap it is to travel within Europe. Pretty much any two points is 100 return at most..

I wonder what the headaches would have been to bring a pistol into good ol'England (just as pass through) I would have had to transfer airports... so I think it would have been a no go or police escort(which I doubt)

Ciao.

Are you Gilbert Dupuis?

Giorgio recommended avoiding other European airports and flying directly to Milano (Malpensa).

hey if you are going to the Tanfoglio factory bug the hell out of them to come out with more options for the Stock II. Better mag bases, bigger safties, straighter triggers, and most of all, LIGHTER HAMMER SPRINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+ 1 on the hammer springs, but I don't think that is the problem. I saw that Eric Grauffel mentioned he had it down to around 5.5lbs DA. The problem was the firing pin / hammer. Not enought mass, too much mass, etc.....something along those lines.

Ummmm, my Model "L" is coming up on 6,000 rds of 9MM and 1,000 .40 cal and the D/A pull is still a pull. S/A though is as smooth as silk with a very fast reset. Spring has got to go and replacement is IDPA legal. Will use my CZ 85 for Production.

Take Care

Bob

LUCK!!!!!!!!!

don't forget, springs, trigger, sears, hammers and safeties, when you are talking to the Tanfoglio guys, all for the Stock II!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stuck in Toronto! (yuck) There's some sort of baggage handlers strike at the Milan airport so my flight was cancelled. I'm re-booked for today. (Luckily, I have a Brother-in-law that lives in Burlington so I had a chance to visit with him and his wife.) Stay tuned for updates......

Made it safely to Italy early this AM (late yesterday PM in Canada). Cleared my gun relatively painlessly with the Italian authorities. Spent the afternoon touring the Tanfoglio & Beretta factories (REALLY COOL!). Out for dinner with a bunch of Americans, Italians, Slovenians and a German fellow tonight. Ate & drank lots and had a great time. I dont shoot tomorrow but I think I am going to try and find the range. The match proper starts on Friday. Stay tuned.....

cool you got into the Beretta factory too? it's rare that they give tours over there. Don't suppose you grabbed me a couple Elite II frames while you were there did you????????????
