Ok the IPSC 08 Worlds web site is up.....:D....But for those of us that plan on going....well check out the F**king hoops we have to jump through to get there and while there.

The cost of air fare alone is a kick in the junk..:kickInTheNuts:,the hotel rates, food cost, etc.:runaway: Handing our guns over to the cops as soon as we get there, drawing them in the early am, from there armory and turning them back into them again ever night. :jerkit:

The World Shoots (for the past few anyway) have been hosted in a not so wealthy country. (9,221.00 what ever Indonesia dollars to $1 Cdn) and has been said on many occasions that the world shoots have been awarded to so & so country based on the amount of a steak dinner....and lets not forget the kick backs to whom ever. :stirthepot2:(show me on paper how the 05 worlds cost the sum of $400,000 US, this is the entry fees alone, not even counting the sponsorship $$$$:onCrack:)

S**t enough ranting (Rant off) just read it for yourself.

yup. fly first class is $5000. hotel is going to cost a minimum of $1500. explain to me again why the USA is too expensive to host the Worlds?
although to be fair, no one else stepped up other than Indonesia. I had heard that United States Shooting Academy was going to put in for the 2011's and used the recent Production/Open Nats as a way of showing they could handle it.

Pros:
Hotels are supposed to be 50-100 per night - 5 star level. In Cebu - I was paying $125 a night for a hotel that in the USA would have been 500+.
5 Restaurants, pools, beaches, bars, a huge resort. I assume they are indicating the same.

I'm sure food will be cheap if you get it off the range premises ;)

Organization is far better than the last - yes, you'll know where you're going before you have to go!!! You will probably be met by an Indonesia IPSC member as you exit the plane who will escort you though the customs issues, etc. (Like South Africa and Cebu)

The local Cigarette company has supposedly put a million dollars into the sponsorship for this match. (They can't sponsor anything else)

Cons:
Airfare - yep - that's a bugger. Of course, it would have been as bad to the Philippines, Australia, etc.
Guns locked up - sucks, but I've been told by the Australasia people that it made for little issue at the match.

As for location - beating a dead horse. Look at the IPSC regions. The majority vote is in the (PC warning) "other" countries. They choose where it goes. We've been down this path before. If you want to go to a huge match for a lot less overhead; look at the US nationals.

Bidders against Indonesia - none, so we get what we get.

At the General Assembly in France, the Indonesians put on a good presentation and answered a lot of questions very well, so I have a decent feeling about this one.

Look at the bright side BMW. I hear the women over there are outstanding and they leave you with something to remember them by. Sort of a lifetime gift.:D

Hey, maybe we can have it in Canada!
No wait....by then Dalton McGuinty will have been elected Prime Minister of Canada and will have declared himself "Supreme Overloard Of The Righteous" and proceeded to ban everything in the world accept taxes.
Sorry, I'm just a little cranky today. I'll take a pill now.......

I'll pass on Bali too... I wouldn't want to pass something with the wrong hand and find myself in a clan war.. or heaven forbid they see the bottom of my feet...well I'll give them that one... even I'm repulsed at the sight of the bottom of my feet....

I'm more concerned about making the Canadian Nationals. I missed this year, but attending 2008 is in my sights.

I believe Bali is Hindu, not Muslim

Bali is the Christian island, the rest of the country is basically Muslim.
I'm going. looking forward to it in a big way.

Now that will make maxpig feel much better.:D

I'm not in IPSC (Cause I'm a Cheap SoB mainly, and overwieght secondly) but I have a single question.

Armscor supplied ammunition is the ONLY allowed ammunition for the match (Special Headstamp and all). So why are they bothering with the Chrony? All ammo is Factory, should be regulated to a standard PF right?

Just a Q.

ah but according the to the match website it offered tips as what to do or not to do... most of all don't deal drugs...

I had a couple of guys from one of my projects go to Indonesia for a portion of the schedule...

We sent them out on a culteral sensetivity training course specific to the area...some of the stuff was pretty interesting (if not hilarious)

You can bring your own ammo. Armscor is the only supplier of match ammo. If you buy the Armscor stuff, you'll skip chrony - but if you bring / ship your own, you'll be going to the chrony.

Bali is a tourist city / location. It caters to the tourists and cultural faux pas are not as big a deal. Other cities; say Jakarta, and you'll be watching it.

hmm my bad I thought I was told it was the Christian island. there goes the upside down cross. I guess I'll stick with the infidel shirt. (NOT!)

so when do we find out the scoop on teams and such?
