The point is this: the OIC is rushed and badly worded. Gun laws do not make any sense and what you consider reasonable won't stand up to faulty legislation. Politicians lie and all that counts are the words written in the legislation and how some crown prosecutor and judge are going to interpret them.

Yep - as long as the barrels don't have removable chokes that make the bore greater than 20mm diameter they are not prohib. So most are right, cuz most people have regular shotguns with removable chokes.

The measurement should NOT be taken out front. A shotgun’s gauge is measured in the chamber. The fact the CSSA is focusing on this truly boggles my mind.

Even if they made a mistake... simple solution... they’ll issue a statement saying this was never the intentions and ask everyone to carry on.

Alright. I've been giving this some thought and I doubt it was an oversight. Right now we think we have all gun owners in the same boat, though a fair few are still screaming in denial. They let us stew for a bit. They can't back pedal this via OIC thanks to their vindictive clause in C71 preventing lowering classifications by OIC. In a few weeks they'll introduce their handgun ban under some happy title like "Take back our streets bill" or similar. It'll include the "fix" for the "oversight". That sends the classic hunter crowd right back on us with the usual holier then thou nonsense. The Libs get to be hero to them for saving their sport. The Bloc and NDP HAVE to vote for it because if they don't they lose big points with their voting bases, so the Liberal minority is moot when the majority in there support it. They all pat themselves on the back. Job well done. The hunters hate us black/hang gun types even more, and in a few years we'll be doing this all over again but it'll be over what's left of handguns and whatever we manage to replace our ARs with.

You say this like it is a fact. It isn't. It is opinion.

That ANY of the chokes for sale by those 12G manufacturers would render the bore less than 20 mm is entirely pertinent here I think.

That may be valid, but it isn’t what the oic says. Some organizations, like the ofah, have indicated (see twitter) that shotguns are not effected based on a reported reply from Blair. So I suspect clarification is coming.

I own 14 ARs. And I hunted with my 12 gauge this morning.

Of course they are going to amend the wording, lest they alienate those within the firearm community that actually support them.
