A friend of mine called me over to show me some estate guns today and asked me to identify an old bolt action rifle he thought was maybe an enfield. Its a 303 but I am stumped. It has a CRF bolt and has been sporterized...any ideas?

Thanks in advance fellas

Nice to see that it still has the proper rear sight, and the "ears" haven't been lopped off. If the barrel is the correct length, and the bolt/receiver match; it could be a restoration candidate.

Other than the stock being reconfigured so it’s no longer full length, it has not been substantially “bubba,d”. Everything else looks intact and cared for. No buggered screws etc. She was headed to the crusher before you guys weighed in.

Why would have it been headed to the crusher? I’m of the opinion that no gun should be destroyed no matter what it is. There’s always someone who would want it or take on a project. :(

I'd happily pay for shipping, if it saves her from the jaws of death. No rifle, let alone a well worn "antique" with stories to tell, should ever end up being destroyed.

Great offer and I appreciate it, but once I clarified what it was, it re ignited some interest and they set it aside to keep.
