What kind of lever action should I buy?

If you're hand loading, you might consider 45-70 as you can download it a lot as well as hot load. Very versatile, especially if you get into casting. Alternatively you could go the 45 colt route as you can hot load it fairly well in a modern 1892 action as well as have ultra light plinkers. Same goes for 44 mag and 357 mag. If you want off the shelf ammo availability, 30-30 would be probably the best for what you're asking.

Also, after seeing your comment about wanting a rifle chambered in 7.62x39 due to an abundance of ammo, I would suggest an SKS. They aren’t banned... yet. They are still cheap and available. They were practically born and bread for just plinking, people sometimes call them bullet hoses, lol. In you situation (lots of 7.62x39), if I were you that’s what I would currently be looking for. Come on comrade, bite the bullet, haha

Yeah, SKS is an option, and a cheap one. But it'd just be replacing my Mini-30 with a lesser rifle (sorry SKS owners, but you get what you pay for).

I was kind of joking/whinging with my 7.62 comment. I can maybe sell my ammo to an SKS owner.

A lot of comments about Henry rifles, I hadn't really considered those. I'll check some out for sure.
