In the past 2 days, I've had SIX moose in my crosshairs. SIX! Sadly, I couldn't shoot any of them
. I tried to take pics, but none turned out too well, all I had with me was my little pocket camera
. Spotted most of them about a half mile away, and managed to sneak up to about a hundred yards or so before they wandered away. Had I had a tag, I could have one hanging right now. One of the males we spotted was absolutely gigantic, too. His antlers looked to be about his height again on top of him.
We also had one visit our camp on the first night. He walked directly between the truck and the tent, literally inches from where we were sleeping. I woke up to the sound of a moose sniffing our tent, before lazily wandering off through the willows behind the tent. Looking at the tracks the next morning, we realized that if the tent hadn't been there, I could have reached out my arm from where I lay and touched him.
Saw plenty of fresh elk sign, too, but no animals.
I'm pumped for next year's draw, I know where I'm going.
