Not sure if anyone has experienced this before or dealt with CCI but I recently was doing a reloading session and in a case of 1000 primers found a sleeve of BR-4 primers with 3 missing in the box. At first I thought nothing of it and kept reloading but after talking to a friend and they asked how do I know there is not an issue with the other primers. Naturally I got to thinking, could the other primers have a double load? Could they be defective? I reached out to CCI on facebook and a rep told me to fill out the forum on their website and sent a link. Nothing. No follow up questions no answers to the quality of the remaining parts. Not only is the quality control scary but the lack of response was astounding. I have been exclusively using CCI for years as that is what my father used. After the lack of response to questions I don't know if Ill go back. Thought I would share and see if anyone else had issues like this. I don't want to shoot the ammo if its compromised but am very conflicted as I have used them for thousands of rounds.

I think you are over-thinking it.
Not sure how 3 missing primers = double charge. Never even heard of a over-charged primer. Not to mention primers don't exactly contain a lot of powder, even if you double the priming compound in a BR-4, it's probably now equivalent to a magnum primer.
You say you have used thousands f them without issue, why are you worried?

I worked at Cabelas. Every manufacture had the odd time primers were missing. It is based on the boxes that are not sealed. Not sure how you concluded about double charging...it does not make sense.

Because he was shorted 3 primers.
Makes sense to me.

Ya the primers are in cheap plastic trays wrapped in cardboard. It is easy enough for a couple to fall out during handling. Don't really see a huge issue . You are out a few primers no big deal. For relaxing CCI is my go to for primers. Never had an issue with them. The way they are packaged makes it easy to put the primers into the tray for reloading .

Only BUY Federal Primers from NOW on ! :ar15: RJ

Primers are filled by a worker who fills rafts of them at a time with a small rubber squeegee. The wet compound fills the cups to the top, so there is no possibility of a double charge. The anvils are inserted later. Apparently some workers have a magic touch for consistency; and at least some companies will put them on the Match primer line.

On the other hand; Ive had more misfires with CCI primers then all the rest put together. For fun sometimes watch for misfire threads on the forum. I double dog dare you. ;) it seems like every thread with misfire problems include CCI primers or a savage rifle. :(
