First I've seen them, but police in Halifax have extra-quiet rifles now, apparently.

The Montreal police had a recent call for tenders for .300 Blackout ARs with suppressors. What surprised me was the Longeuil force was getting in on the buy (or already had them?). I wouldn't think of south shore Montreal, a couple of towns over from Kahnawake BTW, as being dangerous enough to be looking to upgun their SWAT teams. However, mutual aid might be part of the deal.

Edited:

Found the link- 48 or 49 Sig ARs in 300 Blackout for the Montreal police. And note the headline writer calls them 'assault rifles' not 'patrol carbines'. Even in French the terminology gets muddy.

Quite sure those guys are RCMP. Looks like RCMP-GRC is written across their backs. Halifax Police are in blue.

"The police presence included an HRP canine unit and members of the RCMP emergency response team"

It's not about 'dangerous'; it's about occupational health and safety legislation, 'loudness', and 'due diligence'.

OPTICS !!!! Its all about visuals. Can someone forward this image to all the gun orgs. This is would be a prime counterpoint to the argument as to why the Police paid by our tax dollars to protect us has these hardware rmbr the "No one needs an assault rifle , kill as many people blah blah blah " What are they protecting us from with that firepower ?, Invading Russian troops ?, Syrian rebels ? US army ? Aliens ?

p.s does he look like he has a DBAL ???? call in a missile strike on a hostage situation ?

In Ontario during the 1980’s there was a police shooting the RCMP might want to read up on.

A guy saw someone sneaking around outside his house in the dark wearing camouflage and carrying a rifle, so he took his rifle outside to see what was going on. The guy in camouflage said he was police and told the homeowner to drop his rifle. The homeowner did not see anything that would indicate the person was police, refused to drop his rifle and was shot but not killed. The homeowner argued that he had no way of knowing the person in camouflage sneaking around his house in the dark (on their way to his neighbour’s house I believe) was a police officer. As a result, none of the police agencies in Ontario are allowed to wear disruptive pattern or camouflage uniforms.

With recent events in Nova Scotia and people impersonating police in traffic stops elsewhere.......the RCMP might want to rethink their Multicam strategy.
