Snob appeal maybe.. And justified. But the fact that it is made better and shoulders better might be two of it's selling points.
Who told you that it was made better? More complicated or cost more maybe? I have had problem with two superposed and seen many with hicups. Never with any of the numerous citoris that I have had. The shouldering thing? That's too subjective? Truth is most can not tell the difference! Neither one shoulders as well as their cynergy!
I've owned 2 Superposed's The build quality on both was superb. The Citori's I have handled have that, high fat receiver that I find very clunky. Maybe that's why they went to the Cynergy Line (for people who don't like "clunky receivers).
There are Belgian-made sxs that I'd take before anything made in Japan. Lebeau Corally and higher-end Francottes to name two but in that price range I'd probably be spending my money in Italy or search the used market in the U.K.
The Belgian guild guns I've seen range in quality from jewels to junk and there are damn few jewels out there. Many of them along with some of the low-cost factory production deserve the title JABC (Just Another Belgian Clunker.)
The Belgian Brownings never excited me much and I agree that the Browning Citori is better value particularly in the subgauges. An even better value are the Miroku-branded guns. Made in the same place by the same people as the Brownings but at a lower price.
some were junkers? a lot were! only some were high quality, at least not most that I have seen.
