The New Colt Python Officially Unveiled

My 6" arrived yesterday. A couple of quick comments:

Fit and finish seems pretty damned good. Everything is tight.

Colt apparently says 7-9.5# DA trigger pull but I measured an average of 5.75# with my Lyman gauge. DA pre-travel is about 1/16".
SA trigger pull average on mine is 2.5#.

Love the grips, fit to my hand is nice.

Dislike the red ramp front sight, but I also dislike same type on my S&W 686. Personal preference I guess.

Thought about the range this weekend but with social distancing we only have 2 open bays on the pistol range so I'll wait until the long weekend is over.

edit - finally got to the range. Gun is awesome. Handloaded 357 that I use in my 4.25" S&W 686 that really pop the barrel up are nice and controllable with the Colt 6" barrel.
Shot at 25 yards - elevation was spot on, shot a bit left with out of box sight settings.

I read the front sight is removable with a key.
Any aftermarked FO sight to your knowledge ?
I search but to no avail....probably too soon.

Johnnyjellybean, ,Did I spell that right? That looks super, you are going to have wear white gloves now.
I love Colts, had a few, but for shooting ,I like a tuned smith.
I think if we where talking about RR cars , internet "experts" will find some damn thing wrong.
I kind of wish I could justify another colt.
The grips look like they are better than the original model, with the raised checkering that would chew my old hands up with heavy loads.
I love the short barrel ones, now if we could just get a 3 inch, I would be all over it.

Everyone knows that the price spike of original Pythons was due to Sherrif Rick carrying one on The Walking Dead. Last time their price spiked was when Hutch carried one on Starsky and Hutch. TV and movies create collectors out of even previously non-gun people. Owners of old Pythons have rode a wave of artificial investment value and once many of the new Pythons are sold they're old gun values will drop off. I can see them eventually topping off at around $2500 US.

Everyone who has never owned one knows that.

The 'artificial investment value' is no different than the crazy prices you paid for your cabbage patch dolls.

By your reasoning, a mint low mileage 1971 Dodge Challenger, hemi rag top should only be worth maybe $40K, because the new Challenger has a hemi in it too. Makes perfect sense.

I kind of think you are full of it , I have sold many over the years and the guys that collect pythons that I know don't because of some D.A. tv program.
But I could be wrong, don't think so.
Colt never chrome plated them.
