What's the difference between gunfighter and double-duelist?

I read the CASS handbook and I still can't figure it out. You shoot two revolvers, one in each hand. What's the difference?

Gunfighter shoots both revolvers at the same time, usually, but not mandated, alternating guns between shots. Double Duelist, by definition, is one revolver at a time, but one shot lefthanded and one shot righthanded. Some stages are not set up to legally be shot in the Gunfighter style (eg 5 pistol shots followed by a rifle or shotgun sequence, as a Gunfighter may not by rule, reholster handguns with unfired rounds) in which case the Gunfighter would shoot Double Duelist. Double Duelist is not a separate category, however a competitor registered as a Gunfighter could concievably shoot a whole match Double Duelist and be within the current rules.

Semantic Difference

"Double Duelist" is one who shoots one set of targets with his left hand and another set with his right hand -- alternating hands as he empties each pistol of its 5 rounds.

"Gunfighter" is one who draws both pistols at the same time and fires them (alternately) at targets until all 10 rounds are spent.

On stages that are not set up for 10 pistol rounds in succession, then the "Gunfighter" performs as a "Double Duelist" -- empties first revolver with one hand -- then goes on to rifle/shotgun targets -- then empties second revolver from the other hand.

Just to makes thing more complicated, the Gunfighter can stage his revolvers before they are empty, as long as the hammer is down on an empty chamber or a fired cartridge if the stage design permit it (other type of shooters can do so, too). So a Gunfighter can engage 5 pistol targets, safely stages his revolvers, engage rifle or shotgun and reengage 5 other pistol targets for exmaple.
