I see Burris has a new Eliminator scope for 2020 the Eliminator IV 4-16x50.

I'm curious as to what others think of this as a viable hunting scope?

It's heavy at 28.8 oz (BUT) it does mount directly to picatinny/weaver base, so you save the weight of rings 5 oz +/- ??

Plus you would save the weight of range finder (another 8-10 oz)??

Ballistic calculator app and phone weight???

Over all weight carried while hunting is no more than some of the lightest optics available on the market and you'd have the convenience of having it all together.

Thoughts??

I have 2 E3s.

I really like them and the ballistics is spot on for what I would call long range...out to 1000 yards.

For most people they are going to be alot quicker than dialing....

The only improvement I would like to see is Bluetooth to a Kestrel so it would plot for wind correction.

Great scopes.

What rifles do you have them mounted on?

I'm curious to see how it actually performs in the field. All the reviews I could dig up are just re-hashes of Burris' marketing pitch. The only 2 drawbacks I can see to it off the bat are the parallax being on the objective which I guess isn't huge (and is a function of the form factor of the optic/electronics integration) and more importantly that it's SFP. I know lots of hunters have no issue with SFP but with integrated ranging, not only will the wind call only be true at a set magnification but so will the projected elevation aiming point. The reticle actually looks quite usable but being SFP kinda calls it. I wonder at what magnification the holds are true?

With the improvements to LRFs, ballistic calculators and integration, I'm hoping we see more scopes like this in the near future. Other than this, options for a rifle mounted LRF are either finding a Silencerco Radius somewhere (and having to use a Kestrel/app for dope) or getting a Wilcox Raptar (with or without AB) for significantly more than this whole optic. Neither of those options actually integrate with the optic either.
