Yeah I'm upwards of well over 1500$ on mine. Between the stocks, the forearms, the mounts, the barrel, thread protectors, the GSG Kit, the spare parts ( Bolt, trigger housing and assembly ) and mags ( 5 mag )
Then add the mess up.
I didn't hear from Blueline about my service ticket. I never got a confirmation email, or able to log in to check it. I had to buy a second gun for the receiver. But I may be able to sell a bunch of parts to recover some of the cost.

Not sure. When I recently called BL about the receiver, they said they don't really have parts. And I would have to go with a out of service warranty. Sounds like out of service warranty is for those who purchased ATIs imported GSG.
I wanted more mags and guy was selling 3 mags, a spare bolt, a spare trigger assembly/housing, plus spare forearm with rails and cocking/front sight assembly. My guess was he did the same thing I did, and only fixed was to purchase another gun.
I cut my OEM rear sight down about 4mm (and also moved the hole for the adjuster) to try and match the GSG conversion front sight. If you make your drum to match the OEM sight then it won't work with the converted rifles.
Trying to get my head around what measurement you want (someone that has not modded their rear sight should measure). Do you mean centre of sight hole to the highest part of the picatinny rail ahead of it?
You working in Tinkercad? Perhaps you can send me the stl when you are done and I'll rework it for my rifle

Yeah.. The center of the peep hole in the OEM sight to the top of the picatynny rail, so I can align my design as closest to the OEM sightline as possible. My front modified sight doesnt touch the centerpost, just the cap.
Not sure what I'll do at this point. Maybe make a 'poor man's conversion kit' or something as the GSG conversion kits aren't being made anymore.
If anything the sight hoods/adapters would be a couple of bucks plus whatever shipping is for a padded envelope (thank you amazon lol), and/or I'll put the cad files up on thingiverse/tinkercad... but I'd would hate for some arseshyte to rip them off and start selling the design files on turboquid or whatnot.
I'm still working on the rear drum... to be useful (rotatable with different levels), I'll need to find some kind of ball detent system like the 'real' ones have (small ball bearing and spring in a hole).

Waiting for a claw mount to arrive to see if there is enough space to work with it, and what tweaks need to be made. Also experimenting with different plastics
Not sure how well the sights are lined up but they are definitely pretty darn close, especially using the highest post for the front sight.
I am technically not using a MP5 rear Sight but a 416 style one, should be all the same

I know you have not tested the sight alignment yet, but when you say that the front/rear sight alignment should be pretty close ... are you using the factory GSG-16 front sight (and cocking tube) or the 522 conversion kit front sight & cocking tube?
I have the conversion kit and I’d buy your part for sure if the rear sight would line up fairly close with the 522 conversion.
Also Dropthebomb, could your piece fit into the top cavity if you have shaved down that molded in top-rail? If you know what I mean. Ie. could your piece fit INTO the cavity and not rest on the rear rail molded into the receiver? It would be more “MP5 like”, IMO.
I realize that the rear drum sight mount is built into your piece, but I think by lowering the whole piece and thereby the rear sight, that it might align better with the conversion front sight. From my own individual testing anyways.

I am using a 522 conversion kit. I threw on the highest sight post and with my 416 drum sight it looks pretty good, again this is from just eyeballing in my living room but ill definitely test it once my Black PLA+ comes in. I wasnt overly worried anyways since my goal is for it to look the part without cutting up the gun and throw on a claw rail and red dot after.
Im not 100% sure I follow your second post, because it is sitting in the cavity on the top of the receiver. I cant get the Rear sight any lower unless one would grind down the plastic, my piece completely replaces the top rail and doesnt sit on top of the rail.
It was a bit hard to tell how deep into the cavity that your piece was sitting. But I wasn’t sure if your piece would sit any lower if you sanded down the rails to make the receiver more rounded. But if it’s sitting in the cavity on top of the receiver and not the rail, then that’s my answer!
I’m excited for this piece! Let us know when you have some for sale .... I’m in for sure!

huh, never thought of doing it as part of the replacement rail. Interesting indeed as normal HK sights would work.
I'll finish off the one im working on to fit a a normal -16 rear mount, then move on to the straight mag project.

This should help give some perspective on how much it fills the cavity on the top of the receiver
After getting a MP5 style rear sight it definitely is different from the 416 one im using, also seems taller too. Ill be adding some extra variations to the adapter it seems haha
