Why were rifles like the tavor and RDB spared?

I think they are calculating the expected backlash for each round of prohibitions in such a way that they stay under the threshold for all-out anti-government protest.

Too much at once will lead to a massive, coordinated show of public outrage.
A chunk at a time will lead to grumbling, letter-writing and small isolated protests.

Death will come by a thousand cuts.

I have to agree with you on this. The initial list was "high profile" rifles, now they are picking away at the rest. The best thing that could happen for firearms owners in Canada right now is an attempted ban on all firearms, that would be our only chance at rallying enough support.

The idea that a rifle has to have a set number legally possessed in Canada before it’s considered for a ban flies directly in the face of the purpose of the ban in the first place.

So what’s the magic number before it becomes “too dangerous?” 5K, 10k?

If it meets the criteria of a so called “assault-style firearm”, then leaving it non-restricted until sufficient numbers are imported is incredible.

The fact that, written right into the oic, they will keep an eye on the market to see where consumers might shift their purchases for potential future bans is ridiculous. If the firearm meets the definition of a scary killing machine, waiting to see if Canadians begin buying them in numbers before choosing to ban it would be massively negligent- by their own belief systems.

The bullpup firearms are not prohibited yet because in order to prohibit them using the OIC legislation, they must be interpreted as a variant of one of the named models, specifically the AR "platform". And "platform" is in quotations because that is what they are interpreting the previously exempted firearms based on.

I would like to see iwi do a massive sale and flood our market personally. Make it so that it is as inexpensive as the sks for like 2 years. That'll show those LIEBertarts and everyone will own one, it will become the new affordable hunting / varmint rifle

I have just question if firearms are dangerous and killing machines then ban them for all. When I said ALL then it means RCMP/Police too. They should be allowed batons and slings etc only. And those so called "Assualt type weapons" should only be for our military only. Now many of us will criticize that how comes, police suppose to stop bad guys with guns. The answer is that they failed to control illegal firearms trafficing at first place. So, thats their fault not ours that government is disarming law abiding citizens.

Seeing as surplus SKS rifles were subsidized by Soviet and Eastern Bloc taxpayers that is highly unlikely. The production cost alone of a Tavor is several times the retail price of an SKS.

When an anti throws up the excuse that police need semi auto carbines and handguns for protection from violent criminals, the correct response is almost self-evident. When a cop responds to a call for help from a civilian, the civilian is ALREADY facing the threat that the police officer will face when he gets there! So it follows that the civilian has a need of the same guns that the police have.

Police are your backup in a bad situation but you need the means to survive until they get there! Hammer this point home. It's an even more powerful argument after the abject failure of the RCMP in Nova Scotia.

well unless we can get the idf to support this the dream is dead. Thanks for the pee party on my parade.

Well, it's a little bit more complicated than that. The community is very vocally led by the rabbis and these guys are almost all pacifists. In reality, their influence is dwindling and at the same time, the Israeli diaspora has grown quite a bit in the later years, especially in GTA - and these guys Mostly hate Libs with a passion.
What the Turd is afraid of, in my opinion, is that the Israelis will sway the rest of them. Rabbis are definitely losing ground all the time, Jewish community orgs are ALL Israeli agents (yes, that's true), so he may find one day that the whole mishpuha suddenly decides they don't like Libs anymore. BTW, this is something the Conservatives should work on - try to flip these Jewish communities.

Right now, in these communities, the Lib voters regard Trudeau as a somewhat harmful antisemitic turd (he is exactly that). He brought in various Islamo-fascist #######s into the party, mouthed off about Israel (very few Jews regard that positively) and caused the antisemitism to rise. So he has to tread lightly and give them cash (rabbis REALLY like cash).

Oh, and BTW, I'm a Jew, so don't label me an antisemite. :)

Interesting insight, thank you.

It seems like the Turd Reich is not well regarded for the reasons you mentioned / I highlighted which is why it seems odd that some would vote for him. It cant just be due to the Rabbi being pro Liberal (the bought and paid for Rabbi.......) and the folks blindly following?

If I remember correctly the ban in Norway included exemptions for semis for things like hunting, collecting, competition, military training and wanting one.

So, pretty much not a ban at all as that covers 99% of reasons anyone would want one

my theory is they are just going to do a bull pup ban at a later date

They 'need' a reason to ban a bullpup. They can't just say because it's too short. It's still 26" or greater for NS.

I realize, that they will likely make some ridiculous law. But that does not make it lawful.
