I'm thinking about putting a Leupold with the CDS turret on one of my 300's and would appreciate any input from those of you who have used them before I take the plunge. Thanks in advance for any input.

I was sceptical but got one after my brother had great success with his. I found mine to be great. I had one favorite load figured out. Sent in the data to korth, installed the custom turret and it was immediately dead on at all ranges marked. After I sighted in at 100 I spun the turret to 600 and put the next three shots in the middle of a chicken sized rock my range finder said was 600. Mine was a VX2. I think the system on the VX5 with the zero stop would be even better.

I just sight my gun at different ranges and tape a chart on the but for the numer of elevation clicks . CDs is another waist of money

And if you change bullets my chart change is easy !

isn't CDS exactly like every other turret system? you don't need to get a custom turret etched to use the turret, you can just use the factory basic moa dial if you change loads often

I have had the old style cds and now have the new zero stop, both have proven to track well for me, but you will read some poor reviews about the old style, I think it was improved in the new style

if you want to dial and extend your range, I think a turret system is more convenient and accurate than learning a bdc reticle

I think the Zero Lock Turret option is coming to the VX3i line??

I use CDS, turrets and drop reticles. They all work, they all have their place, they all have certain advantages and they all require that you occasionally be a bit smarter than turret, dial, reticle or chart.

Zero lock feature is a must....for piece of mind.

I have a 3x9x42 Burris C4 which is basically the same idea.

I am not sure why Burris discontinued these scopes.

Mine is 30mm tube its robust, repeatable, and plenty bright enough for 99% of hunting.

They also gave you one Free turret....but you can easily use Strelock, white tape and pen to make your own for whatever load you develope.

Only drawback is no zero stop.

I think the C4 had poor marketing, and they attempted an even poorer relaunch with the "C4 Plus"...so they never had strong sales and got dropped I might suspect, not many people know about this scope i find

I have 2 of these scopes myself, 25 and 30mm tube....really great value for the money imo, I like the combination of the turret and the windplex reticle.....the new E1 looks like the same body and glass but it is upgraded to side parallax adjustment instead of AO, and the MOA reticle is a bit busier with hashmarks on the vertical stadia...I could see myself grabbing one of those sooner or later

my biggest complaint with the C4 is I couldn't find a lense cover that fit the threads on the objective, not a fan of the butler creek flip covers
