Sorry I've been busy and haven't been looking at guns much this past year. Last year I almost bought one of those short barrelled norinco shotguns but was talked out of it by a friend. I went looking to buy one this year and they're out of stock everywhere. Are they discontinued, banned, or just coincidentally out of stock everywhere? If they're gone is there any other cheap short barrelled shotguns I should look at instead? All answers are appreciated, thanks guys.

They come and go..I hadnt seen any at stores for over a year, then they reappeared end of last year, just a manufacturing schedule .

Somebody will sell you one. I've tried one out and it's a hunk of garbage. Finish polish looks it was done with an angle grinder and you have to slam it on your knee to open the action. Maybe the one I saw was an anomaly. Who knows? :)

My son bought me one for Christmas years ago and right out of the box the left hammer wouldn't lock in the #### position. Six months later a replacement arrived and after about a half box of ammo the stock split and a piece of wood went flying off right behind the hammer. There are much better coach guns out there and in my opinion these guns are a waste of money.

They can be rough but a little but of care can get them to be functionally acceptable.

I got mine for a hundred bucks from the return pile at one of Canams tables at a gunshow, happy with it for the price.

The 12.5" Outlaws have not been available for years.

The Canadian Tire in Grande Prairie has had them consistently since they began selling guns last year. There was one on the shelf and a bunch in stock as of about two weeks ago. They are one of the best sellers supposedly. The only real issue is the guns are still a toss up for quality.

I bought my dad a Stoeger Coach Gun Supreme for Christmas. He loves it! But it isn't a 12.5". If someone wants one that short their options are limited.

I love mine. I've had it for about 5 years and it looks and works great. I probably have over 600 rounds through it. It's a Dominion arms one but I'm pretty sure it's still made by Norinco , the only difference I see is there is no checkering on my stock. It's a great way to blow up some pop bottles 🤣

I have owned (and sold) two of the 12.5 ones.
My experience is some/all of the fasteners on the gun are finger tight or less right out of the box. So after a few shots for many owners, stocks break, hammers stop working etc.
That leads to the piece of crap opinion that is out there about these guns.

Thus, it is highly recommended that before you fire a shot, you disassemble the gun and action (it really is quite simple) and loktite every fastener, nut etc.

Follow this rule and you will find a fairly heavy, crudely made, crappy chu wood stock, i.e. a poorly finished firearm. But it is also great fun to shoot, especially for new shooters who want some muzzle flash and recoil.
I loved shooting this gun.

The massive chunk of steel that went into the action reminded me of a tractor part.

As with any short barrel shotgun, ear protection is a must, unless you want to permanently damage your hearing.

You can also get your money out of one if you decide it's not for you.

Personally, I preferred the Norinco JW-2000 checkered stock version to handle that recoil.

Also, firing both barrels at once is possible, but will shorten the life of the gun (internet opinion, I never did that).

OP, check your Canadian Tire, they were regularly in stock at my local one in Alberta. Probably the south Edmonton super Canadian Tire carries them.

There is one on the EE right now,

Good luck!

I have one, the chambers look like they were cut with a reamer from 1879. Have to break it over my knee to open it, would the rough chamber be the contributing factor, and what's the best way to take out the high spots? I've tried steel wool on a drill, but I could run that for a year and not polish it enough. I'd run it through the honing machine at work...if I could go to work. Would a good fine ball hone of appropriate size work to even out the rough spots?
