Hey all,

Came across this full box of .308 Win today. I *think* it's from late 70s or early 80s, around 40 years old.

The marketing/packaging includes a patented "cartridge carrier" that has belt loops, so you can put it on your belt or rifle sling. The ammo is snug and doesn't fall out. I'm sure others have done it, but since it's under patent on this box, this must have been a first. Kind of neat.

I looked up the patent. It was approved in 1971 and expired in 1988.

I'm sure it's fine too shoot, but I'm wondering whether it's something I should preserve instead. I'm not a collector of vintage ammo, but I'm sure someone out there is.

Thoughts?

Shoot it.
A. It is not old, in any collectable sense.
B. It is common ammo.
C. Cartridge collectors want crisp boxes

I hate it when someone asks about vintage ammunition, and it looks just like ammunition I bought when it was new.
