For your Sunday Morning viewing. Not sure what the best defense would be for a group of marauding combatants using gorilla type tactics would be? Flinging your own fecal matter back at em or calling in an air strike?

Interesting video.

In all hard to reach areas, or areas with dense bush, all over the world, there are stories of similar creatures.

The Sasquatch, Big Foot and Yeti are the most commonly known in North America.

Interesting but how did this end up in milsurp section? There is "random video of the day" tread in another section for this kind of thing.

Figured it was during the Vietnam war & U.S. bases & troops had been attacked by these gorillas. And it would be more appreciated here... LOL!

The word "moi" mentioned in the video as a word for the rock apes is actually the Viet term for the Montagnards or hill people. It means something like "savage" and is considered offensive.

People with tails? There are no great apes with tails so these things must really be unique. Have to wonder why the GIs didn't shoot some of them and produce the bodies however.

A close friend of mine served in Vietnam and actually told me about his encounter with these creatures about five or six years ago. Upon noticing this thread, I gave him a call to discuss this further, and also to get an answer to that question you’ve posed...

He explained that most of the GIs he was operating with were acutely aware that they existed and knew that no one had been seriously injured by them so they didn’t feel the need to kill them because it served no strategic purpose. He went on to say that the NVA were never too far away and that discharging your firearm needlessly wasn’t a good idea. Finally he said that the locals revered them and that the GIs didn’t want to upset local populations which could subsequently make their lives more difficult so they tried to leave the rock apes alone when possible.
