6.5 creed

Lee collet neck die, Redding body die and an in-line seater.
Very fool proof setup to get low runout ammo and not over work your brass.
Lapua brass, h4350, match primer and pick bullets depending on whether your mag feeding or single shot.

Hello, also starting reloading 6.5 Cm. What difference between mag fed and single for bullet weight/type?

I’ve had some pretty bad luck with whidden Quality control.
I use the Redding seater. The vld stem works good for the secant ogive and the factory works better for the tangent ogive bullets. Everything thing else seems to be a bit of a compromise.

Some bullets like the 140 Sierras, Lapuas and the berger ar hybrids are at a more optimal length when seated to fit in a mag then say the Sierra 150smk , vld bullets or the long range hybrids.

Interesting.

With 140 ELD-Ms, Lapua brass and 42.1gr of H4350 I was getting ~2750fps...... and a ton of pierced primers.

Accuracy wasn't good either. My 6.5CM seems to be somewhat of an anomaly in that it likes to be around 40.6gr or ~2640fps for good accuracy. This is 3 shots at 200M.

yah, I think I have a fast barrel. My 127LRX load hums along at 2925fps as well with RL17. Using Hornady brass for both loads.

I just picked up some Starline brass. You can get it in small or large primer. It’s supposed to be better than Hornady and it’s way cheaper than Lapua. I am using small rifle magnum primers. I’ve read they don’t loosen up as quickly as the large primer version.

Try RL26 when you can get it - it sure amps up that round with a 140/143gr slug

Have you tried this? I wonder if it might be too slow for a CM. My experience is that RL26 prefers heavy loads, big cartridge capacities, at least standard size or better with heavier bullets, and more so overbore calibres.

I wouldn't complain at that.
