Trying to find SWFA scope dealer in canada

As far fetched as it might sound, simply owning one in Canada could get you in trouble...

Sale or transfer of items listed is prohibited to entities on the list of debarred parties, denied persons and embargoed countries. It is the buyer's responsibility to be aware of these lists and to obey the law. These restrictions are enforced and the penalties are severe.

They used to ship to Canada, now they dont. I contacted them recently about sending a scope back to them for repairs/replacement. They said they don't deal with Canada anymore and directed me to optics warehouse in the UK. Optics warehouse said they may be able to help but had to wait until covid 19 restrictions were lifted as they were short staff and inventory.

I don't know why they won't deal with Canada or use a distributor here.

They shipped back in the 80's and 90's, then stopped. Then started again, then stopped. They're a nice scope, though not as tough as would like. Very nice glass though. - dan

what if I pick one up after corvid when in the states and bring it over the border and declaring that i purchased a few items and if they want to see my items would this scope mean anything to them other then the cost concerning duties.

To Canada customs its just another item they want to collect the tax on. To US State Dept you are illegally exporting a war device or something like that. :)

Actually didn't the ITAR rules just get relaxed? Is it okay to bring scopes home again?

Scopes are ITAR controlled. You can't bring them out of the US without the proper paperwork. I wouldn't risk it.

If they are willing to ship it to Prophet Rivers FFL dealer in Montana then Clay and team will do the importing for you, costs $50 to have them import a scope, I have brought many different scopes in through them and have no regrets. When a retailer puts nightforce comptition scopes on sale for what works out to be less then what we pay for a sightron 10-50 in canada it's a no brainer

From what I can find it looks like scopes have been removed from ITAR.

From a Wiley Law website. Jan 23 2020
Rifle scopes are being completely removed from the jurisdiction of the ITAR, except those captured by USML Category XII.

I just emailed swfa about sending it here and they said no go.

I know they relaxed the ITAR but asking these retailers they give the same response as if ITAR hasn't changed.
Either they dont know it's been relaxed or it'll take a while before its implemented, I dont know

Can you post the link to that? Wondering if it would now read "have been" instead of "are being"? If so, would sure like to present it when dealing with someone down South.

Thank you,
Ted
