The GSG 16 modification thread

Finally got the muzzle device from dlask :D

The 522 grip was filed/sanded, the lower receiver (magwell) was filed/sanded as well. Not a single part in this is from the 'gsg-5 conversion kit' (cocking tube is from a gsg-522 though)

Alright Im pretty happy with my current design so Im happy to sell these guys. My GSG16 Top Receiver Filler/HK Rear sight mount.

Installed with zero modifications to the gun, The plate is sandwiched between the two receiver halves, fills the gaps and give your GSG a nice MP5-esque look.

M4x0.7 thread is printed in the rear sight block for easy mounting, no need for tapping!

I cant comment about how well the sights align, But personally I made this more for the aesthetic

Printed with Esun PLA+ which is much more robust than standard PLA.

So far I have 3 Variants:
1. 416 style HK rear sight (Unfortunately don't know the brand used)
2. MP5 HK rear sight (Modeled with an SRC Mp5 Rear sight but confirmed to also fit Tokyo Marui MP5 Rear Sight, CYMA should work too)
3. Completely Flat top

Also plates 1 & 2 will work with a claw mount of the style in the pics below! :D

Will be doing a live test of it this weekend, but I have little worry that it will break.

Oh Jesus, that looks reaaallllllyyyy good! Pants getting tighter for sure!

Since you said you are up for small changes - could you make a flat top (like the one in the middle of your above pic), but molded to also include the mount for the rear sight? I have an SRC rear sight that should be arriving from China any day now. If I can bolt that sight up to a flat top rail, I’m so in. Even if I have to remove/add some material to get the rear sight lined up well.

If you can do that, I’ll take two (because I know I’ll manage to screw one up some how)!
 
Is anyone else getting light primer strikes? This happens with most ammo for me, except for CCI Mini-Mags. I’m thinking CCI might have a thicker head on the cartridge? But most of the malfunctions I’m getting are too light primer strikes and also the bolt closing on a partially extracted case.

I’d like to buy an improved extractor and firing pin, but it seems nobody makes any.

Any ideas? Anyone else with these problems?

Other than CCI ammo, I’m getting light strikes on average once per magazine. The FTE issue happens slightly less.

Malfunctions on the CCI ammo are around 1/200 rounds, which seems normal for a rimfire rifle.

Let me know when you’re done, I’m so pumped! I’ve been trying to find a solution to cover the top rail for months now. I might even take one of the other top rails on top of the two flat ones. Shiiiiiit I’m going to be your best customer!

Also edited to add: I have the GSG-522 conversion kit, and so I don’t know if that messes with your dimensions of the rail or anything. It looks like you have the same kit too.

Great job! It would be cool if you could make a nice handguard and two upper rail delete with HK drum sight ( it will be easy to line up the sights, you can use original behind it as a reference) I mean stock gsg16 without any kits. I will be first in line for this kinda package!

I mean adding the additional panel for the gastube wouldnt be a problem at all. Not sure about a hand guard design, but maybe an idea may come at one point haha

I'm up for two panels. Please confirm if the rear drum sight will be at the same level as the original one. It's important for me because I want to use iron sights most of the time. DM me when it's ready. Thanks!
 
Which 22 ammo works great for this unit?

I almost went with federal champion value pack but seems they could leave a lot of mess behind?

Looking for something that is easily aviallbe, shoots well, without a nasty clean up :)
Or am I asking for too much? Lol

Think you're asking too much, 22LR naturally is dirty ammo. You can lower it down by shooting like CCI mini mags. I ran CCI Standard, CCI Subsonic HP, CCI MiniMags, Federal Bulk, Winchester Wildcat. Seemed like didn't matter what ammo, I did have some hickups with every brand, some more than others.

Nope sorry. I broke my receiver on my GSG 16, so those conversion kit parts are off my gun. And will go back on the new GSG, I got in the mail.
