Insane price for Mosins rifles

Back on topic, I'm not so sure these Mosin prices are unreasonable. I'm seeing 3-500$ and from what I've heard some of these shipments were much higher quality guns (retailing around 5). The ones we were getting for 150 were mostly quite rough.

I don't know about that, I have never bought a Rough 91/30 in my life and I have never paid more than 160$ a rifle. 300$-500$ for a standard 91/30 rifle is too much in my opinion. Unless its some less common variation (such as Finnish captured, Spanish Civil War, Unrefurbished, etc.) it really shouldn't command the prices they are being listed at. In terms of supply and demand, there is thousands of these rifles in mostly standard configuration around, the ammo is becoming more expensive, and overall they aren't that great a rifle to begin with. Not to mention they are literally the most numerous bolt action produced in WWII so the supply is also there in other countries as well.

Applied for pal: garand were $1200 for nice examples, $18/ brick 22 and my first Morin was $160 shipped.

Just received my second pal, the those days are LONG gone.

Capitalism survives due to market dictation. Someone's buying

I never saw the fascination with the moisin rifles so didn't get on that band wagon.
My first norinco sks-d was 99 bucks and we bought loads of them at those prices among our group of friends.
These days a decent condition SKS-d goes for what 650 on average and has been that way for a decade now at least.
Would have been a good investment if I had kept a bunch of those LOL

I don't notice SKS's going up much, great rifle, def. worth more, but still see many for $200 all the time. Exceptional examples I've seen asking $300/$350..not sure if they are selling though. Chinese SKS's have actually went down! A year ago they were alwayz more then Russian, $275/300 on EE, now some stores are selling them currently for $209.

Minty collector non refurb Soviet ones will fetch $450-500.

I look at my collection as an investment. Almost all of them have increased substantially in value since I purchased them. (Excluding my SKS’s so far....)

I used to look at all my guns as investments....until a couple weeks ago as one by one they joined a list to be taken from me without my consent. It turns out that we own nothing in Kanada. My investments are being decimated. Taxes paid, legally purchased and some with historical provenance. I'm just waiting for the Turds and Bliars to get around to the straight pull K31s. Don't be fooled, they're all on the hit list.

With the inexpensive, hunting rifles readily available the milsurplus market is becoming more and more exclusively...a collector's market. I used to buy the milsurplus rifles because of the decent price. If you have some exposure to the auctions out there, it becomes fairly clear that the surplus market is becoming an expensive hobby. Many are already priced out of it.

True, although an old 98 sporter is twice the gun as a Ruger American or similar entry level rifle.

Will Trade $900,000 House in Markham for one hex Mosin-Nagant and an Oh-Henry Chocolate Bar! LOL

Insane price for Mosins rifles

Is amazing how prices on Mosins start to perform: Tenda sell hex mosin for 550$. Shipped to my door will be around 650$. Is the same level with Swiss firearms.
Is near the price of SVT (regular price of SVT was triple than Mosin). Was produced 60 milions of Mosins during a century....

well I should of bought more of those Polish M-44s when SIR was closing up shop.

made some good coin off those when I sold them, sold off most of my Nagants.

Oh I still have a few with hex receivers and a Finn M24/98 SIG barrel :) but I'm keeping those.

What blows my mind more so is how many buyers are stuck in a time warp, don’t get me wrong I too see how insane prices are getting, I just bought a Russian produced M44 for $600 in March and sold it the other week overnight for $750. I partially regret it because I’m noticing that numbers apparently still climbing and the odds I’ll get myself another one that clean are slim to none. It’s still better than the guys who approach you proclaiming how he once bought one for $60 and your $300 91/30 is outrageously overpriced.

That said though everything seems to go that way, I’ve noticed kijiji is turning into a gongshow of everyone thinking everything they own is collectible or has potential, but in the next breath everything I post for sale seems to be worth less than dirt.

Markets are a strange place full of strange people.

I should have bought an Imperial Gewehr 98 Mauser when you could get one here on the EE for $1,000. I’ve been looking for years now and can’t find one.
