SKS's flying off the Equipment Exchange

I hear ya.... and I agree, the market will be set simply by what people are willing to pay in a panic buying atmosphere that the government has created.
Speaking only for myself though, I have no use for fixed mag type sks rifles and am steering clear of the panic buying hehehe
Wish I had kept some of the multitude of SKS-D models I owned back in the 90's and early 2000's but I sold them all off in favor of the m14 rifles.
If I had only kept a few of those to sell off in today's market LOL

i shuda, cuda but didnt. i too had 4 "D" i paid an avg of $250, sold them at avg of $400 and then watched it peaked at $750 when the russian sks-d appeared.

My first SKS was a D bought from a friend in early ‘99. $300 with 2 x 5/10 mags (or were they original 5 rounders), and about a thousand rounds Chinese non-corrosive. Shortly after, a buddy offered me another D for $150 with 2x5/30 mags. Which I turned down stupidly. Well hind sight stupid. When the Russkies arrived, and I got a couple, I sold my D for $350.

Then 2 years ago, I figured ARs are cooler, so got rid of my SKSs to make space for a couple ARs.

So my ARs could be gone, (Will not give up until the fat lady sings, signed the petition and urged others plus got a 3yr CPC membership), and no SKSs.

I want to get back in the SKS game, but can’t bear paying $450 out of pocket, minimum (incl shipping) for a crap shoot online deal.

I waited too long yesterday to decide on a WTT SKS for a 9mm Pistol, and listing was gone when I decided to go for it. I was willing to trade an FNS9L.

Some of those russians were the really bad bbq paint mismatched ones. I guess now it doesn’t matter as they wld be worth more. I just can’t handle the bbq paint it puts me off.
I have seen 3 types of alternative finish on sks, two are very nice parkerizing type finish similar to most modern AR and hunting rigs we have these days! I think the Russians were trying different methods of finish for durability and of course no reflectivity as that would be important. The few as have with parkerizing type finish are really nice/smooth tough and low reflectivity! Don't get me wrong I like the nicely blued ones too but if you were useing it for hunting, maybe the low reflectivity and tough finish would be better. The third kind of finish looked like a pebbled finish and may be what you are alluding to, it had higher reflective and was not very tough, would come off quite easily!

I think for actual hunting there are plenty better rifles. If that is all I had I wld use it but they are more of a plinker to me. I have shot some deer with the SST round and it works fine.

I'd pick SKS if I had to stay in the middle of nowhere for a long period of time.. It can drop any big animal up to and including a big bear, it's tough, reasonably accurate. And if I could choose a second rifle, I'd pick a 10/22.

So in an emergency situation or survival situation. But if you had been drawn for a tag for a big game animal, if the SKS was your first choice - thats awesome and I don’t judge, I just don’t consider it to be my hunting rifle. They are fun to collect and plink with and ya in a pinch it cld be very effective as a hunter.

I agree with you. SKS is a battle rifle first and foremost. It's like driving a military 4x4 truck on highway, there are a lot more better options. But everything changes if there's a need to go in the middle of nowhere.

not because you never done it that you can t do it. sks are used in siberia against the equivalent of our grizzly bear ... something maybe we do not know about those calibers ...

Anyone else having shipping issues from Canada Post?

Usually 3-5 business days to get a parcel across Canada?

It almost appears as IF they know it's a firearm the are "messing" around with packages?

Mine took 3 days to travel across Ontario, now it's been at same outlet for 3 days?

Yes, it is taking longer, they made announcements about it, due to all the online ordering people are doing while covid keeps them at home, Canada Post ( and other parcel companies) ar experiencing near Christmas volumes,,, couple that with the fact that they are working in an environment that has to take more precautions for their employees and you can see why things are backing up.
