Making an old double barrel legal to hang on the wall

It just takes on nail to hang it on the wall...

define what you really want to do...

Would you want to leave it displayed on your wall without a trigger lock ... all the time ... accessible to anyone in your house ?

I believe that requires actual deactivation.

Yes I want to hang it on the wall in a room that wouldn't count as secure. The law says unloaded and trigger lock or bolt removed or in a safe. So I'm wondering if the firing pin and retainer which are simple to unscrew counts as removing the bolt.

Take a conventional trigger lock. Drill a hole through the female end and screw it to the wall. Hit a stud. Install a hook to support the barrel end of the gun. Lock the gun to the wall. Gun is on display, meets the requirements for storage.

Damn good Idea !!
I'll be doing this.

If you want to dress it up, take a strip of walnut, and drill a series of holes for a few trigger lock stems, to inlet them, so to speak, and install pegs on a second strip of walnut for the barrels. Then a few guns can be displayed. They can be oriented horizontal, or at any desired angle.

I believe there is a restriction about a gun display being visible from a window... just the sight of a gun may cause a break in...

"just the sight of a gun may cause a break in.."

or a breakdown mindblowing freakout
Like pot....you can grow it but not where it can be seen

"weld it solid"
Which doesn't meet the deactivation standard in firearms law, but surely makes it safe.

I know what the regulations say, Guess I should have said , take to a licenced gunsmith and have it done, if it is just a old beater, That don't apply to a quality gun, Trigger locked as tiraq said would work, my point was taking the damn firing pins out don't change anything, that is not taking " the bolt" out, depends on who the judge may be I guess.

Ramp safe storage regs will help you.

Dewat's are a specific legal definition set by rcmp.

1) An individual may store a non-restricted firearm only if

(a) it is unloaded;

(b) it is

(i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device,

(ii) rendered inoperable by the removal of the bolt or bolt-carrier, or

(iii) stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into; and

(c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into.

(2) Paragraph (1)(b) does not apply to any individual who stores a non-restricted firearm temporarily if the individual reasonably requires it for the control of predators or other animals in a place where it may be discharged in accordance with all applicable Acts of Parliament and of the legislature of a province, regulations made under such Acts, and municipal by-laws.

(3) Paragraphs (1)(b) and (c) do not apply to an individual who stores a non-restricted firearm in a location that is in a remote wilderness area that is not subject to any visible or otherwise reasonably ascertainable use incompatible with hunting

Store it in a locked box or shadow box or cabinet, with ammo, good to go.

Lock on door, no windows, good to go (in the room).

Store it on Wall hooks, locked to said hook - good to go.

All depends on what you want to do, specifically.
