Be warned

I used my CC on Az tech Armory website last year and the next day my credit card number was being used to buy sandwiches in New York City. It *could* be a coincidence, but there are numerous shopping cart providers with exploits.

I had the similar issue couple years back. Since then, I enabled the purchase notification feature on my CIBC VISA, every time a transaction has been made on my VISA, I will get a pop up on my phone notification showing the amount and the store name. U can disable the VISA on the fly as well (just like what we r seeing on the TV commercials) .

They concluded it was not possible for me to spend money in Thailand and teleport back to Vancouver right away.

Haha, I had something similar happen when my card, the fraudulent activity, and I were each on separate continents. No questions asked, money returned within three business days :D

One thing I wish would come to canada are virtual credit cards - in the US some banks would let you generate and terminate credit card numbers on the fly with a hard limit as part for online transactions. You could buy all the mp3s and little blue pills from shady Russian websites without worry :)

I just was checking my card this afternoon, I had 8 fraudulent transactions on the same day. The first was for a shawarma restaurant in London Ontario. That one went through. Then 7 more on canadiantire.ca for close to $10k.

Looks like they tested the info out and once it worked went to town.

Not sure where they got my card info from. Canadian tire luckily caught the rest as fraud and they wont be posted. TD is investigating, if they do I will be reimbursed. I will be reimbursed anyways for the one that went through anyways. Pain in the ass now I have to wait for a new card.

Bastards!

That is very funny. Police don't care and will do nothing to help.

If you understod Frauds you would know that you are not the victim. The credit card company is and they dont give a rats a$$ about cash that small. The CC company wont spend the money in legal man power to recoup the loss
Therefore the police are cut out of the investigation. In PERSONAL frauds yes the police will and have helped me recoup cost lost in a contractor fraud.

It's totally random according the fraud dept. person I talked to. She said the hackers technology keeps evolving at a fast pace, it's hard for them to keep up. She said they have programs that randomly generate numbers trying to guess credit numbers.

This is why I find it funny when people think phoning in their order is more secure than ordering online. When you order online the employees cant see your credit info. When you order over the phone some guy is writing down your info on a piece of paper.

this is the most common type of credit card fraud going around for the last couple years.
Skip the dishes, ubereats…. entertainment and travel addons for vacations and more
Have had it happen twice over the past couple years.
Called my credit card company and had it dealt with , they were quite good about it and informed how common this was.
For me it was easy as all the purchases were made online in different provinces and those charges on my cards with in those provinces, not mine.
I was also making numerous purchases from firearms retailers at the time this occurred.
My guess is criminals are tapping phones or hacking point of sale systems vs a shady employee but these things do happen.

cops won't help you..... call your CC company asap.

They do Ubereats because credit card fraudsters first do test purchases of between $25 and $50 to see if the card is still active. Once those purchases go through they make larger purchases afterwards.
