Does it come with a threaded protector to switch out the brake? I imagine at 13” it will really bark! Looks like a great package though!

Ok thanks for clarifying. You might want to consider removing a photo showing a full one-piece base on the first post of this thread.

That's also a Savage Model 10, not a Remington 783. I believe that the Savage was the original prototype for this style of compact precision rifle, but the production guns are being done on Remington 783's. Full length, one piece bases are available on other models of the 783, and available separately from a few places, so they're likely to be offered in the future. I agree that the two piece base is not ideal.

curious why you choose the 783 action over the 700 action? not in the market for one right now, just wondering if the 783 has benefits for this platform or just to keep cost down?

cost, we did a bunch of prototyping with different guns, savage 10, axis, ruger american.
we wanted to get the very best platform and performance we could and retail it for $2000 or less.
The 783 offers us that, without going cheap like the axis .
The savage / rem 783 bbl nut set up allows for less cost in gunsmithing, over the rem 700, so this lets us put more money into the bbl , and after all we wanted a target gun not just a cheap blaster.
The trigger once worked on is much batter then the savage.
Cost and availability was a factor as well.

Yup the 783 action is actually amazing considering its a budget rifle action. Super smooth, fast to run, reliable extraction.

I'd like to see a run with more of a medium profile barrel in the future. These could take a "do it all" role similar to a scout rifle if they can be about 7lbs.

Check this out for some other feedback on the 783. MYSTIC PRECISION

Aftermarket is coming along - the 783 uses Savage small shank barrels, takes two Rem 700 front bases (effectively), has an aftermarket trigger from Timney available (and the factory trigger isn't plagued with the problems the X-Mark is), and has chassis available from MDT. They're doing pretty well.
