I have dies for both calibers but was wondering, you think if I was in a pinch and tried to use a 303 British Lee load all to neck size and reload 7.62x54r, would it work since both rounds are rimmed and take the same bullet size, what do you think?
NO, the shoulder diameter on the 7,62x54 is .050+ inch larger and you shouldn't be able to get your case far enough into the die to size only the neck. The x54 case is also approximately .110 inch shorter, so at best you will only resize half the neck, which shouldn't be a problem for sporting use and if it chambers easily.
I don't have one to check but I don't believe there is enough room in the body of the 303 die to allow the x54 case to enter the neck resizing area.
I'm curious, I think you're referring to the LEE LOADER, not the LEE LOAD ALL, which is for shot shells.
If you already have the 303 Brit Lee Loader kit, why don't you just try one and find out????
However, it will work the other way around. Loading the 303 Br using the 7.64X54 dies will work perfectly for neck sizing only.
