One Gun For All??!

IF one only had one calibre rifle to hunt Big Game With (ex. Deer, Bear, Elk and Moose). What would it be?

Consideration can be given to ease of carriage, both long rang and short range shots as well as factory or self loaded ammo.

A 30-06, especially with handloads, is pretty darn versatile.

for me its a toss up between 30-06 and 300WM

I do reload so I went with the 300WM.

Although I would consider the 7mm Mag too!

I made this choice- sorta- Went wiht the 300WSM, although a 30-06, 7RM, 300WM, etc woudl be just as suitable.

My main hunting rifles are

223
300WSM
375 Ruger.

The 375 Ruger woudl do it all- 260gr Accubond seems to work okay, and it has the trajectory of a 180gr 30-06...But it woudl probably get pricey to shoot alot

of the choices ... the 338w. With a 250gr bullet at 2500 fps - it will handle any hunting in N America. You can go faster and flatter... but you don't need to.
2500fps can limit meat damage on horned game
