Pistols that have Ambidextrous slide release

Using the mag release and slide release with ones left thumb puts one at a tactical disadvantage. You are far better off the learn to use your left trigger finger for both the mag release and slide release, it it far more efficient and reliable and a lot less shifting of the pistol and your grip in your hand.

Shooting handguns left handed for 39 years, ask me how I know.

Interesting points/observations. I find that I use my trigger finger for the mag release, even if I have the option of using my thumb for the exact reason you state: virtually no shifting of the gun in my hand. On the other hand, I will avail myself of an ambi slide release if it is present as I can do so without much in the way of contortion or shifting of the gun. Otherwise, it's the trigger finger as well.

Good choice. One thing you might want to explore is leaving the mag release where it is on the left side. I am riught handed and awitch all my mag releases, when I can, to the right side and use my index finger to release the mag. I find it way faster and does not require me to shift the gun at all in my grip to do. Browning put the mag release on the left side of the 1911 and it has been there ever since. Some say he was left handed and did it on purpose. Not sure on that but for competition I just find hitting the release using my right index finger is faster, she might too.

I’ll leave it for now and see if she likes it.....or can get used to it. Not hard to move around if need be
 
I found if I maintain a tight grip on the gun and just bring the finger back and hit the release it works best. If she can manage that the gun remain in the same plane as it was when she was shooting. She then just tilts the gum and brings it into her chest to complete the reload. Push the gun straight out and fire the next shot. She will be beating you in no time! :>)
