Last winter, I bought a 10/22 Takedown.
I must say... I like it... and my gf too !
I fired a couple hundreds rounds off hand in the woods and I found it to be pretty accurate ( for what it is ).
Last week, I went to the shooting range to test some ammo.
I only tested a couple brands and so far I think its pretty good for a plinker.
Need to test more ammo but so far I think the Eley Club is the one I will use.
The scope is great but lacks a little bit of power to shoot from a bench.
I think I could do slightly better with a higher magnification scope... but its perfect for plinking.
First the CCI Standard, was the first ammo tested. The wind was gusting during this test, especially when firing the last group.
This rifle definetly don't like a clean bore.
I will try the CCI on a calmer day because I'm sure it can do better.
100% reliable. The size of the orange circles are 3/4 inch.
I also adjusted the elevation after the first group and the point of impact stayed the same during the testing, even with different ammo, which is nice !
Second test was with Eley Team. Great groupings but 2 fail to feed so its a no go...
Must be 100% reliable.
Third test was with Eley Club
I haven't even *seasoned* the barrel when I was swaping from a brand of ammo to another.
That's why first groups are slightly larger.
100% reliable.
Last ammo tested was with Lapua Center-X.
Best average but too expensive for a plinker.
I wanted to see what it can do with higher end ammo and I was not dissapointed.
Those Center-X are definetly the best bang for the bucks in the higher end stuff.
100% reliable. The size of the orange circles are 1/2 inch on this target.
Mods :
- Swaped the barrel : 18.5 to 16.5in threaded ( recrowned to 11 degrees by me )
- Polished and radiused bolt by me
- Kidd firing pin + extractor
- Kidd / Dlask guide rod / handle ( not on pics ) softer spring installed
- Brimstone Tier 1 trigger ( not on pics )
- 10 MOA EGW rail
- Magpul TD stock ( this thing look weird but its practical, handles and feels great )
Scope :
Leupold Rimfire VX-Freedom 2-7X33
The rifle :
What you guys think ?
