Title may be a bit confusing. What I want to ask is, which pistol would you choose, if, the government went through with a handgun ban and you gave them your frame/ receiver, and subsequently the conservatives reversed that decision so you want to obtain a replacement receiver after market etc.? Perhaps companies would start making the replacements at a reasonable price and we are back in business! But which one would you think will be reproduced! My first thought is one of the more popular Glocks as there are a zillion of them out there and poly would be easiest to reproduce quickly/cheaply.

I'd imagine the Sig P320 or similar modular units that use replaceable grip modules rather than a serialized frames. In theory you'd need to only surrender the trigger module with the serial number on it and keep the rest.

Go with a gen 3 Glock. If a ban happens the frame is the firearm, and Glock compatible frames (Poly80, etc) are cheap and plentiful if a ban was to be reversed. Not sure what the price or availability is for an APX or 320 trigger group, or even if you CAN buy them individually, but I'd bet it'd be harder and more expensive than finding a gen 3 Glock style frame.

hmm yea, I was thinking there are a bunch of these around and dead simple to copy the frame, that's the Glock 19 gen 3 right?

Best thing is if a ban were to happen, don't be stupid. Don't submit. Don't comply. Wear a set of balls, even if you have to borrow them until you can grow your own.
I get so sick of people who want to fold to corrupt law at the drop of a hat.

I can't answer your question, if you insist on giving up your property, it really doesn't matter what brand it is.

You lose your mind much? We are all fighting the good fight , I donate/join/ and bought $3000 worth of AR to get in the fight,,, but if the day comes that they show up at my dooor for a registered firearm, you are telling me I should start shooting, your an idiot and I doubt very very much if you would either.
They get the serialed frame and that's it.

I love the 1911, but in this case, wouldn't it be more expensive to buy a metal frame vs a composite?
Edit: on second thought, I would also have all the parts from my 1911 too. I imagine some company would start putting out a basic stripped 1911 frame for the masses.

Gen 3 glock by far.

1911, 2011, etc not a matter of plug and play with parts.

Sig p320 trigger modules aren’t cheap or available easily.

So plentiful south of the border; can be cheap or expensive, depending on who's making them.

If you're worried about a handgun ban then I'd look to our most recent OIC ban of the AR. They made the upper prohibited as well. I think that they would do the same with handguns to don't you?

The thing to do is joint the folks that are fighting this mindless virtue signalling government an get this ban nonsense banned!

Yes, I am already in up to my ankles, ( head first) :) but in case the conservatives implode again or pick the wrong leader.
I think it would be harder to do the same as AR with pistols as we don't have to tell them if we change anything except the barrel length and not even sure if we have to do that, my hand guns are already stripped and parts sold ( not illegal) I still have the bits that are considered " the firearm".
