I’m considering a trade with a fellow gun nut.
I have a Sako AV 3006 with hinge plate.
He has a Sako AV 270 with DBM.

Anybody know if we can trade barrelled actions and keep our stocks and bottom metal?

Thanks for any help.

Stoeger sold conversion kits for Sako av from hinged floor plates to detachable magazine. Nothing had to be done to the action for this to work, it was all bottom metal related. Therefore, it should be no problem swapping barreled actions between the two stocks.

The detachable magazine kits were custom made in Ontario by a Sako aficionado and licensed by Sako for sale by Stoeger Canada. The AV action was sold with two different trigger guards, a 1 piece and a 2 piece, they are not interchangeable. The 2 piece guard begins with serial #640,001. The kits where available in both magnum and non magnum. Different kits were sold for 1 or 2 piece guards and are also not interchangeable. As long as both rifles you are dealing with have serial#s below 640,001 ,or both above, you should be able to swap actions.

They do not enter change totally different cut away for the floor plate assembly

So does one bottom metal not fit the stock of the other bottom metal?

What about the original question asked... "Anybody know if we can trade barrelled actions and keep our stocks and bottom metal?"

I believe the stocks would exchange as far as the top metal is concerned... would the detachable bottom metal function with either action? I would also think it would...

Many years ago I worked at LeBaron, I remember we would get quite a few Sako's with really light blonde stocks.

We would swap stocks from one Sako to another if someone wanted a 30-06 but preferred the stock on a particular 270 and vice versa ... if both the actions are AV Long action there shouldn't be a problem. The bottom metal I'm not sure of.
