165 Grain Hornady Interlock bullet loading data.

Hi,
Can somebody help to find data for particular this bullet 165 Grain Hornady Interlock.
I like to use this bullet in my 30-06 rifle with Hodgdon H414 or IMR 4831 powder.

You can make something thats usable, but IMHO 4831 is too slow, or 165gr too light. H414 is better, hodgdon has two loads for 165gr bullets, not an interlock but if you want that specific data I'd recommend just ante in and buying the manual, however I find hornady data to be on the light side so YMMV.
Probably not what you want to hear but eh, great excuse to buy more powder. I would be thinking about 4895 or 4064. Or heavier bullets.

Yes, Hodgdon has data for this bullet weight and powder H414. Discrepancy between these different bullets, but same weight is about 3 Grain!
Huge discrepancy for same weight is a reason to looking data exact for Interlock bullet.
I prefer close to maximum load, but stay in SAFE ZONE!
H 414 is my primary choice. 165 Gr is perfect weight for 30-06 and any deer, even elk.
 
With the 165 grain IL in the 30-06, you should be able to get to about 59 grains of H414, but start at 54 and work up.
As far as IMR 4831, it is a tad slow, but should still work OK. I would start at 58 grains with a max of 62 with that 165.

DISCLAIMER!!!! Always start low and work up!! I will not share my exact loads since they
are safe in MY rifle, but may not be safe in another. A Chronograph is a great item to have and use. A 165 grain bullet
in the 30-06 with a 24" barrel, should max out around 2900-2950 fps. Dave.
 
i've used both of those powders, with that same bullet, in a 24in barreled antonio zoli, 1900, (husky 1640 clone, but smoother) made in Italy.

this rifle likes the bullets seated out as far as the magwell allows. most rifles chambered for the 30-06 have deep throats, to accommodate 220 gr bullets and there is usually a lot of freebore.

both of my loads are safe in modern rifles. neither shows signs of abnormally high pressures

as mentioned, the powders you mention are both on the slow side, but still perfectly acceptable and give decent hunting velocities.

my loads for each are compressed, which doesn't bother either of those powders, AS LONG AS YOU USE MAGNUM PRIMERS FOR CONSISTENT IGNITION.

57.0 gr H414 / cci250 magnum primers / 165 hndy il = 2800+fps

60.5 gr imr4831 / cci 250 magnum primers / 165 hndy il = 2800+fps

these two loads are used in half dozen rifles i know of and all give consistent accuracy/velocity results. expect less velocity with 22 in barrels.

all of the above rifles like the bullets seated out to the limits of their magwells
 
57 grains of IMR 4350 with the 165 if it don't work I would be surprised, shoots MOA or better in every 30-06 I have ever tried.
 
I'd go with reloder 16 or one of the 4350's (hodgdon, imr) for speed and accuracy sake. My 30-06 was stupidly picky until I got ahold of R-16. Went from 5” groups with H-4350 to 1/4" with same brass and bullet. Food for thought

Actually, H414 or W760 are ideally suited for 165 grain bullets in the 30-06.
Good idea to use a magnum primer with sphericals.
Since that is what the OP asked about, all the suggestions for other powders
are irrelevant.

The 30-06 is so versatile, that there are multiple options to try IF one has
the powders. However, I would not rush out to buy a different powder for
my 30-06 and the 165 grain bullet if I had the OP's 2 powders to try. Dave.

H414
45.8gr = 2400fps(start)
48.4gr = 2500
51.0gr = 2600
53.6gr = 2700
56.2gr = 2800
58.3gr = 2900 (max)

IMR 4831:
50.6gr = 2400(start)
52.4gr = 2500
54.2gr = 2600
56.0gr = 2700
57.8gr = 2800
59.5gr = 2900(max)

Almost same result I got many years ago with IMR 4831 with Sierra BT 165 Gr. bullet on Savage Light weight.

Yup I tried lots of pouders, W760 with 165s in 06 was by far the winner.
But trying every pouder is not always easy or cheep, using what you can find seems the only option at times.
 
Some update.

I just like to share some data.

Bullet - 165 Grain Hornady Interlock
Powder - Hodgdon H414
Full size casing.
Rifle - Browning X bolt 30-06

52.0 Gr = 2600 fps (start)
53.0 Gr = 2700
54.0 Gr = 2800

Looks like I can go easy up to 56 Gr. or even 57 Gr. Just do not exceed 2900 fps, it will be also a maximum pressure.
Next couple week i will post result for these loads.
