Looking for some advice. I have an old Mk2.......it's actually a Lakefield MK2, precursor to the Savage. The rifle has the original iron sights. I would like to fit a peep because my old eyes.........The receiver is not tapped, so a bit of machine work would need to be done. Can some of you advise on a peep sight that would be simple, rugged, and relatively low cost. The rifle is in fine condition and I bought it for a dollar, so don't want to invest more than necessary to get a unit that would be good for field /varmit use. No need for a target model as can be purchased on the newer Savage MK2 FVT........looking for something more simple and rugged: more like the Williams peep for a Savage 110.
Recommendations and/or comments welcome.
Cheers
Hugh

Tech sights make a set of sights but I'm not sure you can get tech sights in Canada anymore. I couldn't find any new ones for my Marlin 795, ended up getting some used ones though. No idea how likely finding a used set is.

You can import techsights into Canada from the US from opticscamp, They have the appropriate licenses to export techsights to Canada.

This ^^^. I've ordered several times from Optics Camp and I was happy every time. They were really quick and any time I got in touch with any questions, they were responsive.

Cheers,
Neil

I have had a set of tech sights they work very well. The pattern for them is the same as a set of weaver rails if you get it tapped. If you dont go with tech sights you will need a higher front sight either way to make anything work. I can speak from experience on this, the front is way too low. Perhaps you should pm wild bill who always has sights for sale in the rimfire EE no doubt he will be a great help. I presume there is a dovetail?

What about a skinner sight? It just replaces your factory rear sight. No need for drilling and tapping. They have several sizes of aperture so you should be able to find one that works.
