How are Norincos 870 clones marked and where? Are the markings on the barrel or on the frame in the same place as a Remington? The reason I ask is I ran across a Remington 870 type frame and magazine that 870 parts will fit and this frame has no markings what so ever, no name on the side , no serial number, nada. I thought it might be a Norinco as I have Remingtons and know where the name and serial number should be. The frame did not appear to be filed, ground or altered in any way, just a little rusty , but not rusted in the area a number should be. Maybe a very early gun that wasn't marked ( IT WAS INTRODUCED IN 1951) or a replacement frame that was supposed to get a number off a destroyed gun, any ideas.

Norinco HP9-1s would be marked 'Made in China' on the right side of the receiver between the trigger unit pins. On the left side, there would be a serial number.

The HP9-1 is the only Norinco receiver that would fit Remington parts. This is due to the magazine tube length.

The receiver is suitable for 2 3/4" and 3" and the magazine tube has the two detents as on late model Rems.

Yours might had been a refinish project that was never actually refinished and the bare metal rusted. The marked might have been sanded down at that time. If your receiver doesn't have the detents and it only good for 2 3/4" then you have an old Rem receiver.

A little off topic but,

The HP9-1 that I checked out last week was a nice solid gun but the 14" barrel was a loose fit and was twisted off to the left side when I tried it on a Remington receiver.....

My Remington barrels were very tight in the Norinco HP9-1 receiver and I could not get them to seat properly with hand pressure.

I've read here many times that the HP9-1 barrels work with Remington receivers and vice versa but I've tried two Norinco barrels that were both canted to the left on Remington receivers and the one HP9-1 that I tried would not take a Remington barrel without force....

Actually the Remington parts will fit all of the clones EXCEPT the barrel, and that fits the HP9-1, as indicated above.

I should have made that more clear. Barrel from Rem would fit HP9-1 only due to mag tube length.

For my norinco, I had to use very fine sand paper and sand the barrel cavity in order to fit my remington barrel. I used a quick blue kit to fix up the exposed metal and thats that.
