17 HMR rifle recommendations?Updated. T1x range report

One consideration with the CZ model is the bolt handle lift. The 452/455 can have some clearance issues with the eyepiece on larger scopes if you like them low. C457 action is similar to the T1x with a short lift.

I have 2 x 455's and neither bolt handle hits the eyepiece tube but it is close on both (less than 1/8").
My T1x in 22 has loads of clearance, would be the same with a 457.

Well gentlemen, the order has been placed. After much research and consideration I have bought a T1x. Ive had a few tikkas T3’s over the years and they have always impressed with accuracy. Actually it was between the CZ or Tikka, but the dealer didn’t have a CZ I wanted. Savage would of been a top contender ,but I just don’t like that damn Accutrigger. My 220 slug gun had it, and I never could warm up to it. Next up is getting glass for it. I’m going with Leupold because that’s what all my CF rifles use and they have been great. I probably won’t buy a VX3i for a rim fire, but I’m going to look at there new “VX Freedom” series. 4-12 power I’m thinking, good for chickens and suitable for 100yd shooting. So that’s next on the list to research out. Thanks to all for your recommendations, I’ll be using your inputs for my next rimfire purchase. Cheers

You will like the T1x. I have the 22 and my hunting buddy has it in 17 HMR. Great rifle(s).

FYI the T3 synthetic stock parts fit it.

In OEM config the LOP was a bit short for me (I'm 6' tall) so before I went to a chassis system I added a T3 Recoil pad, T3 Vertical Pistol Grip - Soft Touch, and Synthetic Fore end. It basically makes it into a T3 Varmint Synthetic stock without the cheek piece.

Otherwise find a used T3 Varmint stock. PM me once you get the rifle if you are looking into those options as mine now sits in a KRG Bravo chassis and I have the other stuff sitting around.

i do have a T3x varmint stock hanging around that I was at one point going to use it for a build - perhaps someone may be interested - stickers are still on it - also have a mountain tactical steel lug that I can not take out without damaging the stock. The T1x would be super free floated because it was on a 22-250 receiver. Just had to say something slow day at work

Well gentlemen I finally made it to the range with the T1x. The scope is a Leupold freedom 4-12x40, Talley one piece T3 ring/base, ammo was CCI A17, and Federal BYOB. So I finished up midnight shift and headed to the range. Lined it up on paper at 25 then took it out to a 100. I like everything about this gun, with the exception of the shorter LOP which can be fixed. It cycled flawless, bolt lift height was minimal, magazine was easy to load. I shot 70 rds in just over an hour, yes the barrel warmed up. I wanted to shoot some rounds before the outside temp, got too hot. My gun seemed to like the federal ammo a bit more than the CCI, but both would work. I’ll try some Hornady’s next and see how they run. Here’s some pictures of the rig and targets. First target pic is Federal, 2nd CCI A17. They are 10 shot groups.
