These 1301’s are OUTSTANDING semi-auto shotguns. They eat everything, never jam, totally reliable, & accurate.
Plus, their cycle time is reduced so they are super fast. Easily hold theirs with the more expensive Benelli’s.
The gen1 tacticals are worth it.

Except for that little button that locks them up , Solid.

What differentiates a gen 1 vs a newer beretta 1301?

Gen 2 have the updated bolt release and the barrels are threaded for chokes.

If you are buying this gen 1 make sure to get this: https://www.aridusindustries.com/products/yt-1301-latch-and-shroud/

So with no choke, do they get a usable pattern with bird shot? The “fatal flaw” does not seem so bad

Out of the GEN 2 I haven't seen any birdshot yet, although the 00 pattern is a tight grouping for a Tactical SG. From my research the way the Barrel is designed the extended cone on the "steelium" barrel helps keep the shot grouping tighter.

I'd say that it patterns tighter than Remington's improved cylinder choke across all shot sizes. The ghost ring sights are a treat, and I tend to run a bead on everything.

I've certainly locked the gun up before, but it wasn't from the release. Got lazy loading the mag tube, and the round slipped under the carrier. You do that once ;)

That said, I've shot just about every semi worth considering, and I do believe the 1301 to be the finest (tac) shotgun, with a standard stock or the Mesa pistol gripped stock to date.

Until you have it happen in a match or... the highly unlikely scenario of a bunch of zombies cornering you in an alley. Haha.

There is absolutely zero reason to touch the bolt release after loading through the e port. There is a nice button shroud available that eliminates any chance of an inadvertent activation.

Failing to seat a round in the magazine tube won't lock the gun up. When the round slips atop the lidter3 like that, you can either shoot like normal and that round will cycle, or manually cycle the bolt and clear it out.

I just bought mine from you guys and was told your military discount couldn't be applied to this specific item because the margins were too close.

Made sense until weeks later they're being sold for 10% off.
