I swa this on facebook this this morning. Close to where I used to live in Wellandport

Didn't think to post here until today however in this location this past Saturday night at 9:30pm, I almost hit a mountain lion. I tried reporting to Ministry of Natral Resources, however I could not get through. I want people to be aware that it is lurking around West Lincoln. Unfortunately I was unable to get a photo as it was really dark out.

I will, and do walk my dogs where there are coyotes (my pack is bigger than theirs), but these cats worry me. There have been reported sightings near me (rural SW Ontario), but nothing proven or reliable so far.

My Father saw one about three weeks ago in the Wyoming / Plympton area. It was around dusk and it came out of a wooded area and crossed a road. It looked like it was going after some deer in the field on the other side.

Looks like you should get out there find a good spot set up and start calling I wouldn't recommend a hand caller though, that might not be the best idea...

You want to have a buddy watching your back when calling cats...they don't play well with others when their dander is up.

A story I read some 50 yrs ago in OutDoor Life has stuck with me this long time. A fellow with his young son was calling yotes on a brushy hillside some where in the mid-west, both looking the same way out across the valley in front of them...all of a sudden, with no warning, the man was swatted from behind by a full grown cat. He lived through it but was hurt quite bad.

Thought they were regarded as extinct in Ontario, at one time ? :confused:

Too cool!
Is it concerning that it's that close to your home?
Actually this is our cabin near Princeton BC. Wife and I have come across 13 over a 20 year span, usually driving . We have a local Cougar hunter in the area , he will chase them away with dogs . Cameras usually capture Deer and Bear ,this is the first Cat .We warned all the locals and reported it .
Sorry for the Hijacking of the thread , thought it was relevant.

They are not extinct, in the last 25 years i had 4 sightings, the last one late fall last year, a big cat adult, previously i saw one female and 2 kittys, 2 youngs ( probably the 2 kittys i saw 6 months before. All the sightings were in the region of Fournier, Vankleek Hill and Casselman.

Reminds me of the poor wolves in Banff National Park. 25 years ago, conservationists were whining when "the last wolf in the park" was hit by a car. As we write;
