Have your ever shoot or encountered a mutant animal ?

I have shoot a mutant deer with abnormal growth antlers, and for the time being, I have a mulie "buck" hanging around my home with justs one abnormal antler that has grown over one of it's eyes.

In the museum in Fort Nelson B.C. I have seen a full mount of an albino moose, as well as deformed cow moose scull with one mutant antler, which was shoot by a hunter, who mistook it for a young bull. The museum owner told me the hunter and his family used the meat for consumption.

Got one buck in my hunting area that has a wonky antler that goes down and covers his RH ear. At first glance, you'ld think he only has one antler. Saw another recently with a giant growth in the middle of his chest. I definitely wouldn't be shooting and consuming that one.....

Hi,

I shot a spike deer about 10yrs back, he had a huge protusion in the front chest, the size of a big grapefruit , just between the 2 front shoulder on his lower neck. We didn't know and speculate it was maybe fat or a big cyste. When skinning the deer, we found out it was his blatter  no joke, full of urine and the plumbing went right back to his tool, other then that, he looked in perfect health and tasted reallly good. Not sure if he qualify as a mutant but should be darn close..

Definitely qualifies as a mutant in my books.

Odd shaped or missing antlers doesn't make it a mutant. Antlers get broken off regularly. Odd shaped antlers make it 'non-typical'.

Atleast now I'm not the only one to witness a deer with a large grapefruit sized growth on it's chest, I seen a doe last Friday like that. I reported it to the fish cops and they said it could be; a cyst, an old wound ie: scare tissue or a wart?
I ain't gonna shoot it that's for sure!

Perhaps you should. I shot a fox once out of season that I SMELLED before seeing. He'd been caught in a snare and had broken loose but his neck had gangrene from the snare. I could see he was dying so I finished him off and then called Fish and Wildlife on PEI. They asked me to drop it off and that was the last I heard of it. But -- small province with 6 or 7 CO's. Probably get reamed for doing the same thing in the other provinces.
