Versa Max R12 Vs Beretta 1301 Tactical, which one?

Beretta owns benelli .....cut from same wood ....can’t go wrong with with ...I’d say what fits your style and pocket book ...go with it ..love my 1301...Gen 2...light and fast

Mechanichelly the 1301 is on par with the M4. The real advantages of the M4 is the pointability, i am a better shooter with my Benelli because of that.

Seen allot of 1301's in the stores with seriously crooked front sights, I mean canted bigtime. Picked out one that wasn't... ran about 100 shells through it, stripped it down and found the cam pin all chewed to hell.... idk not much confidence in berreta or anything from that company right now.

my 1301 is made in italy. its a gen 1.5 i believe and i love it. it functioned flawlessly with a mystery bag of shells, including old imperial high brass with green mould on the brass. however, when i stripped and cleaned it a mangled piece of round plastic the size of an airsoft bb came out and i have no idea where it came from. the gun worked fine after re assembly and killed a turkey with it in the fall. my front sight was not canted but the dot is off to the right a touch because of the way it is threaded into its mount.

Do find the M4 more pointable due to the pistol grip stock or something else?

Could be, i did bring the 1301 / Versa /and M4 to the clays station and the M4 is such a good fit that after i got the hang of the peep sight, it was easy even to make double. In my book the Benelli M4 is untouchable. YMMV....

There's advantages to both, but the 1301 excels in areas the M4 doesn't or has had to transition to. The M4 is no longer the inertia based system that it used to be. It doesn't handle low recoil loads nearly as well either. the 1301 is faster and lighter but when it comes to durability and longevity, the jury is still out on it I guess. The M4 is a legend, but you're not getting ~$1000 in added value when purchasing one over a 1301, far from it. To each there own though.
