The GSG 16 modification thread

It goes on pretty easily. It fits well horizontally. But, there is some vertical play underneath the hand guard, towards the receiver. If you push moderately hard enough on the bottom of the hand guard, you can push it up towards the barrel (if that makes sense).

To fix the issue, I cut a small one inch ring from a foam pool noodle (lol), and cut that ring in half, making a foam “U” shape. I fit that into the bottom of the hand guard, at the rear. Then I installed the hand guard (using a quick detach pin, which unfortunately did not come with the hand guard). The foam inside the rear of the hand guard prevents it from being pushed up towards the barrel. The cavity of the u shaped foam, cradles the portion of the receiver where the barrel attaches with screws. It doesn’t seem like where the foam touches would get hot enough to melt the foam, but I haven’t tested it extensively.

If you don’t know what I mean, I can take a few pics to show you.

Other than that, it’s like this hand guard was made specifically for the GSG-16.

But even if you didn’t do the above foam mod, it would still be fine. I shot the rifle like this for awhile before I bothered to fix it properly.

You should buy the hand guard, I think you’d like it!

I did similar. I just rolled up some pipe insulation and some black duct tape.

"You can remove the rails for a smaller profile handguard and surprisingly there are two MLOK slots underneath each rail segment."

He is talking about the Magpul handguard, seen here.

https://magpul.com/firearm-accessor...n-handguard-hk94-mp5.html?mp_global_color=118

Which is different than the GSG OEM one, that you may be mistaken about. MLOK doesn't attach handguards to handguards.

MLOK is just a method of attaching lasers, rails, flashlights on the exterior of the handguard.

I would assume that the Magpul one would fit. If the GSG16 has the GSG 5 conversion kit.

Sorry I was thinking foregrip for some reason.

This is what I'll be using on the GSG when it arrives

so i guess if i want a nice build i have to play the waiting game huh ?

Yup. I mean I wanted another collapsible stock. Ain't as easy as going on Ebay, and purchasing one with Free slipping. Now it took alot of searching to hopefully find one that was in stock. Guess wait and see.
