Walther Pistols

I have a Q5 match with shield optic and it's my favorite, I'm actually looking to buy a m2 so I can use the Q5 slide for production optics. I added the apex trigger and magwell from Taylor freelance and would prefer to leave it as is.

Walther Canada actually responds to communication and EPPS does their warranty work! Not only that but North Sylva will send you parts. Crazy, I know!

I have both and I can't tell the difference between either model as far as shooting is concerned. The Apex trigger and magwell might take you out of Production in IPSC. Why not just shoot the M2 using the front/rear sight of the Q5, Changing the sights on the Walther is a five minute job. The M2 has the same factory trigger, 5.6lbs as the Q5 came with along with the 1/10th inch reset. I guarantee you would not notice the difference in trigger pull (factory/factory) between the two. The only real difference between the two from the factory is the Q5 has additional slide cuts to accommodate the heavy Optic and the fact it is Optic ready.

You guys have hands on experience with Walther pistols model P99, PPX PPQ amd Creed? I have small hands

I've got small hands the PPQ match fits mine really well. Only other thing that felt better was the Grand Power X-Caliber. I really want a p320 legion but those grips can't change.

Hey Bob, if you have both could you do me a huge favor and see if the Q5 slide functions on the m2 body without any errors? I've sent a few emails to walther but with covid I'm assuming they are backed up. I'm hoping to use the RMSC optic I have on the Q5 already installed and sighted in.

Yes they do. Aside from the cuts on the slide they are the same gun in every respect. Why make the swap? I don't understand. Your Apex trigger would take you out of Production I would think if your intent is to use the Q5 frame with the M2 slide. It would also take you out of SSP Division if you are thinking about playing IDPA. You could use it in ESP where it would likely play well.

The M2 is identical to the Q5 Match with the exception of the additional slide cuts, the cut for an Optic sight and the fact the trigger is blue on the match and black on the M2. The only change I might make is to install the Walther front optic and rear adjustable sight on my M2.

No I wanted to go production optics so I would use the m2 frame with the Q5 slide. I purchased my Q5 second hand, with the bells and whistles already done but would prefer to not keep taking the magwell off and on.

Didn't know you could use an apex in production, that could Change things.

Well it sounds like you are good to go with Production Optics. Just use the M2 stock for Production. It is the same gun as the Match with the exception of the additional cuts in the slide to accommodate an Optic. Both my guns are factory and started out with 5.6lb triggers and a 1/10th" reset as advertised. I have not measured the trigger weight but I assume it has fallen somewhat. Both guns work as advertised. I do want to replace the M2 sights with the factory sights that come with the Match. My older eyes prefer green fibre optics.

My abilities using an Optic are still a work in progress. It takes time to get used to the Optic.. I still am significantly faster using irons and at the distances we shoot IDPA at the irons are still my best option. It is fun though to shoot all the Divisions.

Good luck in your shooting.
