Will a stock set for no 1 fit a no 4 ? Or should i ask how much work to make one fit the other ?

They are completely different and not interchangeable. Buttstocks can be modified to fit, but they are becoming more and more difficult to find, so I wouldn’t modify one.

Nope, and definitely not going to be something you can modify to make work either. NOS forends, for either the No.1 or the No.4 are rare as hens teeth - other than arsenal refurbished/well worn forends that seem to be available for the No.4 Mk.II.

If you're in a pinch, find yourself a reproduction wood set; as it'll set you back less money than NOS and you'll actually be able to acquire it in a reasonable timeframe.

If you have a stock set for a no1, sell it and buy a no4 stock set. Keep the extra $$ for some extra items. No 1 stock sets go for $400..
