How to Participate in Competitions in Ontario

The ORA has a Guest Fee of $20 people that would like to come out and give it a try. This however is for one time, after that it is time to pony-up and buy a membership.
The other deal the ORA has are the Introductory Days. This cost $30. You get a couple hours of classroom in the morning and are on the range shooting by about 11am. We supply the rifle and ammo and a one-on-one coach. You get an ORA handbook and a breech flag. With the price of $30 you also get another day that you can shoot your own rifle.
Most Intro Days are held in Borden but you can use your extra day at Cedar Springs, Winona, or Kingston.

Yes you can bring your own rifle for the first day. Intro days usually shoot prone at 300yd/mtrs. You should be set up to do target work at that range. There is usually an opportunity to zero at 100yd, then move back to 300.

No need to be sorry for the comment. I have seen lots of guys show up with a rifle sighted at 100 yards and do not want to touch the knobs to shoot 300 yards. They would rather aim off. Works OK for 300 yards but if you move them back to 1000 the paper isn't big enough to aim off. Well of course they could aim at the number boards, a tree above the backstop, or a cloud:p

That 1000yrds at Mons looks wayyyyy further than I ever thought
