StaBALL 6.5

I'm not a big ball powder for accuracy fan...you can get impressive velocity, but I have doubts about the ES and consistency. Probably a good hunting powder, not going to be "the bomb" for accuracy.

initial tests with StaBALL in a couple rifles gave .75moa accuracy well past 100 yards, should only get better with some tuning.

Two ball powders i have always found to be " Very Accurate " in a Bunch of cartridges are H380 and H414 - Just Sayin ! RJ

Sorry for the slow reply...so I shot a ladder test with Hornady 123 ELD-M over 6.5StaBallstarting with 41gr and increasing by .3 grains up to 43.7Gr, best load was the 42.5 the I had originally loaded a few rounds just to try the powder, ES was very high @ 38 from a 5 shot group, Group size was .592 @100m, avg velocity was 2678 with this load, This powder has been by far the most consistent group size with the 123 ELD-M out of this rifle, I may play with seating depth to see what I can get out of it as I have them seated as long as the mag will allow 2.250 CBTO

From what I've seen of various posts around the forums and FB posts, comparing it to H4350 and RL16, the only advantage has been that it meters like a ball powder does. Nobody has said it is great, nobody is saying it isn't, general outlook seems to be 'meh". No general gains, no general losses, just another powder, in a useful burn range, that meters really well, ES 's are not great, but, it works.

6.5 Creedmoor, Tikka T3x CTR 20" barrel
140gr Barnes Match Burner, Alpha brass
5 shot averages in each temperature

H4350

+29c = 2551 fps
-2c = 2555 fps

Win 760
+29c = 2643 fps
-2c = 2582 fps

StaBALL 6.5
+29c = 2688 fps

Thanks for the results. Staball6.5 looks very temperature insensitive. I’ve got two pounds that I need to try.

Tried in 6.5x55 and 140 grain Speer Hotcore. Velocity waaaaay below what is claimed by Hodgdon, so nothing to rave about so far.

I've found that Staball really starts to speed up once you get to 95%+ case capacity or even somewhat compressed. It's fairly slow burning so don't be too afraid to fill up the case, but of course follow the signs of pressure as you load up.
