I needed a double mag pouch for my gun belt, and went looking on-line. The prices for a leather double pouch were upwards of $100, so I started scrounging around for a DIY solution. In my stash of old cell phone cases I came upon an old Roots leather case (Staples $37. currently). Low and behold, two 1911 full size mags fit right in ! (with a little to spare) The case has a rotating belt clip which suits my needs, and a magnetic closure. The problem with the belt clip was that my gun belt is very wide, so the clip had to adjusted ! The existing clip on the case will fit a thinner belt.
To do the adjustment, I Dremeled the clip arm off just below the pivot, leaving enough of the arm to attach a wider arm on. I then fashioned a new longer arm out of some scrap aluminum, measured to fit my belt's width, giving the end a bit of a hook to grab the bottom of the belt. I drilled 6 small holes in the aluminum arm to facilitate gluing (forming glue "rivets" ), attaching the new arm to the piece remaining of the old clip, using J-B Weld. (measure twice, fit once !)
To separate the magazines in the case I cut a piece of drapery rod to fit the case, shaping the end-edges so they won't dig into the top and bottom of the inside of the case. I used the type of rod that looks like miniature steel "I" beams. The rod is attached with a piece of self-stick Velcro "hook" tape along the inside back of the case. I found that the case inside was lined, and the Velcro stuck without the use of the "loop" piece. Even so, getting the rod installed took a bit of wood scraps to widen the case to ease installation. The facing piece of the rod was finished with a fitted piece of Velcro loop tape, just for looks. My only regret is that Roots don't make a Tan version to better mach my belt !
Cheers

I have made a change in the construction. The drapery I-Beam can be hard to come by, and did complicate the construction. I have swapped it out and replaced it with a suitably sized piece of hardwood, Turkish Walnut in my case (gunstock scraps).

The rail & Velcro removed:

Walnut piece and Velcro attached (to ease attachment of wood and Velcro to the case, put a piece of wax paper between the case and the Velcro, place it in position in the case, and slide the wax paper out)

And there you have it:
