I own a 1970's pre safety model and I adore it. I'll never part with mine. You want one gang! They're amazing fun and .44 mag in a rifle is an entirely different beast than it is in a pistol.

Yes, but I am still glad I have a Ruger Redhawk, too. My 1894 is a Remlin, but it works as it should and the finish is nice, I can live with the safety (until my warranty runs out and I install the saddle ring instead.)

Have a few Marlins; my favourite is a 1997-made Cowboy Limited with a 24" octagonal barrel in 44 mag!
The new Remlins look really well made.

I'm surprised it's still available. The supply of new pistol caliber Marlins is low to non-existent across the country.

I have a 1894 Remlin in 44Mag/44Spl. It's a fun shooter whether it's gong shooting with 240gn Campros or hunting with 240gn Hornady XTP's.
I have not had any issues with SWC's cycling in the 44, my 1894c 357M/38Spl does not like the SWC.

My newest Remlin, the 444 (DOM, July 2019), was the smoothest out of the box.
With any Marlin, check the date codes, stay away from the dark times, 2009-13.

Nice rifles you've got there. I own a 8 Marlin levers.

Do the new Remlins still have a rusting issue? Sure not built and machined as well as the older Marlins.

I own a bunch of newer Marlin's and no rust or any other issues so far. I shoot a lot too. So I think if I was to see something, I'd have seen it by now.

Nice! That's the way to go. I have to do that with a few of my newer rifles.

Nothing like a good revolver to go with a lever action rifle. I'm always amazed with the torque shooting 240gn Hornady XTP hunting loads in my Ruger Super Blackhawk.

I think you mean hand fit like JM's had to be because the machining was not as precise. The new Marlins are built on modern C&C equipment. The closer the rifle's DOM is to the 'dark times' the less hand finishing, the more sharp edges on the internals, the more problems. The bean counters, 2009-13, figured C&C & cheap Chinese hardware was perfect and no QC was required.

Same here I own 5 new Marlins, no rusting or any other issues. Nice morning to go ring the gongs

Some guys use an automotive "0" ring on the extra safety to keep it in the off position as a temporary reversable cure.
